Back of farm sink's rounded corners: rounded counter?
Comments (8)Circuspeanut - how funny that I recently saved your and Francy's sink pictures and here you are! What's interesting is that to my eye, yours looks less rounded in the back (very slight radius?) and of course quite rounded in the front. It's a beautiful sink/countertop/kitchen! And I love that yours and mine are both metals so I made a point to hunt yours down. ;) Thanks for responding. Cupcake - okay - I didn't realize NOT rounding the back corners is so rare! Here's one example I saved (you might have to scroll down a bit but not far - it has the black countertop) but then it's a different sink than Shaws, if memory serves: http://www.thathomesite.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0711422726010.html Francy - as I was saying above, yours is the other sink I'd saved for reference! Yours is also the kitchen that made me come SO CLOSE to getting soapstone. I just adore it! I like Circuspeanuts sink/counter re. the rounded edges a lot, but I think I'm drawn slightly more - if I'm to round the rear corners - to the front being straight corners as yours does. Probably also because my sink will be sitting pretty much flush, so it makes more sense not to round them in the front. I had the SAME THOUGHT about the label, but when I compared both ways, I found myself visually drawn to the diamond shape and little splash of color that the label offered. Interesting cause i struggled w/ it for the same reason! I tend to hate labels and feel the company should be paying me for the advertising. The worst is when you don't want your kids wearing labels, e.g. Gap written on their baseball hats. Ewwww! Anyway, I totally get what you're sayin'!...See Moreshow me your zero or low radius sink cutouts please.
Comments (4)thanks bbtrix, fora ll your help over multiple threads about this sink. The templater is still here and gently asked me to give him some space to think :) . They have agreed to a roundover edge on the sink with as square corners as possible. The half bullnose for the perimeter edge would require me to have 3 inch radius inside corners on the cabinets so I chose the 1/4 roundover instead in order to get the 1 inch radius inside corner. It's only slightly more than an eased edge (1/8") but hopefully will help wtih the chipping issue. Thanks to Trebuchet for raising my awareness of that on this forum....See MoreHelp with zero radius sink and quartz countertops.
Comments (15)I see now what you did (sorry if I that sounded insulting as I didn't' realize it was a retrofit into an existing countertop) Then that makes sense as there isn't much you could do if they didn't want to pay for it. Mine is a new sink and new countertop so I was hoping for a better match. As others have said, 3/8th is close enough to zero so I'll probably be fine. With the negative reveal I think it won't be as noticeable however I wish they could have made the negative reveal 1/8 vs 1/4....See More1/4” corner radius change onsite for sink cut-out?
Comments (1)"I’m being told they can come back out and cut it to 1/4” but they wont’t be able to polish. Is this true, or just an issue with our fabricator?" They can cut and polish on site dust free; I do it all the time. The lighter color estones are particularly easy. That's a zero radius Kohler 3821-1-NA and the reveals are near perfect. Have them reprofile your top edge to a 3/8" radius like I did. It's much less likely to chip than the cheap pencil edge they gave you. And strap, not clip, the sink in place please. I'd drop the sink and freehand the corners with a nasty cup wheel and follow with a 30, 60, 150, and a 4-step quartz pad protocol. That's what I did above. " We have a zero radius sink, which was at the house for template, but for whatever reason our radius was cut at 1” and looks terrible to my detail oriented mind. I’m confused on who made this decision without asking me." They cut it with a CNC machine and that's the smallest radius the tool can do. Again, it saves them money. That's why the decision was made....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
