Comments (8)I'm afraid that eliminating them easily is only via firearms. I had a friend who used to trap them and then "baptize" them by lowering the trap in water. I thought that was worse than shooting them! Please don't trap them and then release in another area. I believe that is illegal, and you don't want to give your problems to others. I have to protect new plantings as these critters always like to investigate the newly turned soil...and destroy my plants in the process. Some people like them, and if your neighbors are in that category, maybe you can give them some corn to put out so that they will migrate over to other houses. They are listed in our national Science Museum as a "destructive rodent." 'Nuff said....See MoreOT: Your job?
Comments (38)Well I entered the workforce at 16, worked at the local hospital, married when I turned 18 and continued to work until for some reason our family started to increase :o). One of the fortunate ones, I got to be a stay at home mom. When our kids were all in school I did seasonal work at a nursery, this turned into full time and after 5 years was offered a managerial position. I turned it down to become a full time mom again, 'our kids' are now all teenagers, this should be self explanatory LOL. I joined a couple of Garden Clubs, took a judging course, judged fair shows, parlor shows, and helped judge several larger shows for over 20 years. I also took the judging course put on by the Pacific North West Dahlia Conference and started out to become a Dahlia judge but this entailed some travel which I wasn't able to do. I retired from judging last summer and now I get to play in the dirt to my hearts content. After reading all of your accomplishments I had to smile to myself. We who come from all walks of life meet on a common ground to share our love of gardening, it doesn't get any better. Annette...See MoreSS Daily - Mon. 11/14 thru Sun. 11/20
Comments (51)Hi again, One thing I've noticed about down times is that for me they don't last forever. Some years ago, when I got into a painful space, I started looking at the clock with the intent of timing how long it lasted. Somehow just knowing that such times have a beginning and an end was helpful to me in gaining perspective. One reason I don't spend as much time here as I used to is that I started another forum. It's different from this one,but it was created to be a safe place for some people, too, who were having trouble on other forums with people fighting and not being family-friendly. It takes a fair amount of time to keep up. I'm not sure how many visitors we get from here, but no one posting, and I think for the same reason I post here less - we run out of hours in the day. And then there are the health problems and physical pain and all. Maybe I can start sharing some of the things here. People might even get interested, lol, and it would be a way to keep up my contact here more than I have been. Among other things,we have threads for beautiful imagery. I enjoy that, being an artist. Or maybe it's that I'm an artist because I enjoy that. Below is the link to some images that I posted this morning on the reflection thread. When you get there, click on the box that says "click here to view a picture." For anyone with dial-up, you might want to skip numbers 3, 4, and 5, as they take a long time to load. Just try the first two and the last three. We have a story thread, too, where people add their sentences to create a story, and a person who does sand sculpture. We have a cute pictures thread, which I'm sure some of you would enjoy. I'll add to that later today and share it here, too. I got the pics I'm sharing today fro a stock exchange site. I have a lot of struggles, and joys, too, but I've got to the place where I'm too tired and ill to try to share it all. I need to work on other things, like the paintings and art site and such. That's why I dropped out of the Christmas and birthday exchanges, too. I can't keep it all up. At least I'm still here :) Here is a link that might be useful: Reflections...See MoreIt time! Comments (151)Oh no! That's not fun. You don't need DH to fix it, you can do it! Leaks are often just degraded O-rings, which do eventually happen as they are rubber. I bet if you call Kohler support they can walk you through taking the handle off and finding the problem. It's not hard, and there are only so many parts in there. They may even send the part free. You can get a new sprayer on Amazon for like $22 or something. Should be a snap to replace if they won't send you a new one free. I did read a lot of reports of the plastic snapping like that eventually, but I decided it was an easy enough thing to swap out if I ever needed to, and it's not unusual for something used that much to give like that. Not sure about the hose not retracting, but I'd take a peak underneath and see if the weight is in the right place. It may just need to be adjusted. Mine looks like a plastic tie off keeps it from going too low, my guess is over time that may wiggle it's way too low. Kohler support could probably help with these pretty quickly. Needed to add: if you need to lubricate anything in this process, use it sparingly. I learned the hard way that more lubricant doesn't help. We had a lever that wouldn't stay put for weeks after I went overboard with the lubricant, and I was too lazy to take it all back apart to wipe it off.
