Please read the following recall before you buy EA. Ethan Allen "American Impressions" and "New Country" rectangular dining tables Could collapse and cause injury. Products: 7,071 wood tables sold from 8/03 to 1/05 at Ethan Allen furniture stores nationwide for $1,069 to $1,199. "American Impressions" table bears model number 24-6414; "New Country" table, model number 33-6404. Model number is stenciled on underside of table. Hazard exists because table may be missing some of the eight small wooden blocks that are supposed to be located on its underside to add stability. Ethan Allen has received 33 reports of incidents in which tables may have collapsed as a result of missing blocks. No injuries have been reported. What to do: Inspect underside of table for stability blocks. If there are fewer than eight, call Ethan Allen at 888-339-9398 to arrange for free in-home repair. I guessed at size of kitchen eating area so verify measurements. A 72x36 table will work but tight to get to slider door. A 60” table in formal dining room will work but I would create a more flexible room with this space. I have some ideas on that. I will post that shortly. The key thing about round tables is get trim but sturdy pedestal that is clear enough for chairs to push in and get chairs that aren’t too wide at front edge. That front chair edge is what limits number of chairs.

Need measurements of the space, but before you buy anything, remove the round rug and turn the table. The space is more generous than yours, but this picture shows what I mean.

I know this post is over a year old... Wanted to compliment you on your choice of Table! I have a 48" Round Pedastal Table that has a huge leaf! I live in a small aprtment in the city and love the fact that my table is compact for everyday but can accomodate guests. I am on the hunt for an 8' ROUND rug fo rmy table and came across your post! GREAT CHOICE in RUG! You were asking for advice on any other improvements as well... I absolutley love that sideboard area...Was thinking instead of the cute ledges with pictures...I can't help but feel that corner is screaming for some reflection and light... How about a tall arched mirror..or even a rectangular window type mirror... (Link: Arched Mirror, Another Choice...)a little less wide than the buffet and tall in scale... and a cute accent/buffet lamp would be awesome! It could offer some beautiful reflection and some accent lighting... Just a thought. I have found some really cool mirrors at Hobby Lobby and Homegoods! What a beautiful space! I love the fireplace...I also love the clock over the fireplace... I'm a huge clock person...AND Its in a very practical place!
