Any of you show your age by doing what I did in photo
Comments (13)I don't think I planted it upside down, but I have a rooted cutting from last year (I think its a Petite Negri that George gave me) that grew straight out parallel to the ground about an inch then made a 90° turn as if trying to wrap itself around the trunk. It grew another 5 or 6 inches, but never made a significant turn upwards. I'm not sure what to do with it this year. Comments (50)LOL! You guys are too funny. It's funny that I don't feel "creative". I do feel determined and inspired when it comes to home projects, but I honestly don't see myself as being creative! I will say that paint pens are my new favorite. I had no idea how much I'd love using them! I thought it would be like using a marker, but it's not. It's truly like having a very stiff, very rigid paint brush. The way the paint goes on is very smooth and liquid; not at all like a marker. My mind is racing now, trying to come up with other wall word ideas. This was *so* easy. I plugged in my quote and size on a few Wall Words sites, and for the size I did, it would have cost me around $45 just for the lettering. Totallyblessed, yes the kitchen is (98%) done. If you haven't found it yet, it's on a thread called "It almost killed us, but my cabinets are yellow!" The paint pen I used (Sharpie Oil Based) was what I used. I bought a really, really thick pen (mistake) and had to carefully turn the pen to only allow the tip to do some of the more delicate lines. Filling in the thicker areas was easy. Next time, I'll start with a very narrow pen, and then come back to fill in with a thicker pen. Brutus, you're funny. I don't think I'd pass muster with the folks at HGTV. My style isn't modern, I'm not trying to sell my house, and I'm not 22, LOL! Isn't that the standard on HGTV these days?...See MoreAging out decor or not?
Comments (113)That’s it, Annie—- instead of a decorators’ showhouse, we need a Decorator’s’ playhouse, some house where people can come in a try out a faux finish, or a wall color in a room with east facing windows, or a non traditional kitchen arrangement. Wouldn’t that be a fun business to run? Adult birthday parties, garden club outings, gtg of internet friends....I think it would be loads of fun. The kitchen could have lightweight mockups of appliances and you could select furnishings from an attached warehouse to be brought in to “your” room. The walls could be a glass or plastic that could change to any color by dialing a knob on the color wheel, and since I am fantasizing the wall panels could take on or project the texture of flat, satin, semigloss or gloss paint. Or maybe a projector could project the colors on the wall, and wallpaper patterns too. I guess this is a good answer to the question on the other thread asking what you would want another house for if not to live in it....Voila!...See MoreDid you buy your age in place home and then change your mind?
Comments (37)@amykath - I can understand how you feel and I remember the photos of your beautiful home but as you say, it isn't the home that truly brings happiness in life. I think of you at times in comparison to a good friend of mine. She not only lives in a rental but she describes it as a "dorm room". She is a long term renter of what I think used to be a hotel room. It's kind of a studio apartment but it doesn't have a full kitchen - just a small fridge and microwave. She's always rented but usually a one-bedroom apartment. The last time I saw one of her apartments it was full of packed moving boxes and had been that way for probably a couple years. The current situation was supposed to be temporary but it's been that way for years too. I do feel very fortunate to have a house as I grew up in an apartment from 7th grade through high school. When I think about my friend and if I lived in an apartment I tell myself I would make it my own cozy, homey abode that made me happy - no matter how small. That is what you do though you have much more talent than I so I'm sure mine would never be as nice as yours. 🥰...See Moreandy99mich
