Best Books Read in 2016

I can't believe it's time to make this list again! This was a good reading year for me volume-wise, but I had very few standouts. Overall, the YA books I read were the best, and I'll give my book group credit for the rest of my "best" list.

Here, in no particular order, are my favorite books read this year:

Newt's Emerald -- Garth Nix (YA fantasy)

Tinker -- Wen Spencer (fantasy)

Dealing with Dragons -- Patricia Wrede (YA fantasy)

All the Light We Cannot See -- Anthony Doerr (lived up to the book-group-darling hype)

Eligible -- Curtis Sittenfeld (modern retelling of Pride & Prejudice, brilliantly done IMO)

A Man Called Ove -- Frederik Backman (also lived up to, and IMO surpassed, the book-group-darling hype)

I wish my list were longer! What were your favorites this year?
