Can I get rid of something called " old computer files"

a year or more ago I transferred files over to what then was my new computer ... now every time I do a scan it shows there's so called old computer files. Can I delete them .. I think in all this time I never used them ... what do you think. just looking to clean up data that I may never use.

What you describe MIGHT be what is leftover when a computer is updated to a newer version of Windows. Did you do that? Unfortunately, you didn't tell us. Unless you are seriously worried about running out of disk space soon I would leave the "old computer files" alone. The fact that you transferred some files from one computer to another is irrelevant.

It's probably benign and what you recall it to be, but how to be sure? Unless you're running out of space on the hard drive and are looking to create more room, leave it (and any other folders you aren't sure about) alone.

My garden is organic. I don't use herbicides or pesticides in it unless they're approved for organic gardens and farms. Roundup contains glyphosate, a chemical that government agencies classify as "likely" to be carcinogenic. It does not dissipate within a short time as the manufacturer has claimed. My work with the grub hoe is going very well. I've cleared one of my planting beds completely. I've had torpedo grass invade before, and got rid of it when I processed the soil with the intensive methods I use in the planting beds. It's only recently that I noticed how invasive torpedo grass can be, so I'm going over the entire garden now with the grub hoe. I'm really fond of my grub hoe, it's a very powerful tool for ripping out pine roots and underground stolons that invade a garden at deeper levels. Regular garden hoes don't go deeply enough and they tend to break if you use them to clear thicker roots.

I've removed yellow nut sedge in my lawn and flower beds by pulling it as soon as I see it, checking regularly, and pulling everything I see. The continual pulling eventually exhausts the nuts. It takes dedication, but it can be done -- even if you have a patch of it. I haven't ever tried the lasagna method. On the other hand, green kylinga (another sedge) is taking over many parts of my lawn, and is past the point where I can do anything except perhaps someday spray with Sedgehammer or one of the other sedge-killers. I haven't investigated them yet.... The pasture has much yellow nut sedge (with a little bit of purple), but the grasses keep the nut sedge from completely taking over.

Uhmm, now that you ask Roselee I am thinking if its something else. It looked like a beehive to me. I tried to scare it away. It flew out and I noticed that it has a reddish color to it. Well, I think I was more scared because I was the one who ran for cover :) I will try and take a picture today. The lawn moving guy helps me with trimming the plants. He said something stung him when he tried to cut a few branches off the honeysuckle. @ ltcollins, thnx I will contact the extension agent. Since its just very small I thought I could try something myself.

Hi zep516, How did you know beanwabr was infected with Palladium Pro? I could not find out any info about this from beanwabr. You said my link leaded to a possible infected web site? I can tell you that this site (teesupport.com) is safe. I know this because this site keeps posting blogs (http://blog.teesupport.com/) for virus removal and legit applications uninstall instructions each day. Teesupport starts its blogs for over one year and some of blogs are even listed on the top search on Google. I do not think Google will allow sites that will damage your computer to exist for such a long time. I have also tested this site using online anti-virus scanners from various security vendors and all test show that it is a safe site. What is more, as far as I know, TeeSupport is an online company to provide remote tech support and they receive payment via PayPal or Safe Cart. Will a virus maker dare to receive payment via PayPal or Safe Cart? Talking about spam..There is a very interesting thing. As one who often cleans "house"...there's no perfect "yes" or "no" answer to your question.

"Yes" you can do it if you examine the contents of each folder and know your system well enough to recognize whether you may need the info contained therein sometime in the future. Some of those old computer files contain old info...or old programs...that are still referred to and needed by your current system to function the way you want it to. Old photo files...old apps...etc. Have I discarded old files? Yes...selectively and without regret.

"No" if you're not absolutely sure what's in those files and whether your system...or you...may need the info contained therein at some future point.

Generally...I agree with Fudd and azinoh. If you don't need the space then leave well enough alone. If you need the space...proceed with caution.
