Has anyone seen the new Fisher & Paykel fridges in person?
Comments (15)Artemis, you helped me so much around this time last year, when I was considering the F&P fridges, too! Thank you. We, too, put off buying the fridge until we'd saved up more money. Now I am ready to order the french door RF201ADUX model, but lo and behold, there's a new model on the market. The RF195ADUX1 looks almost exactly the same but is $200 more expensive, and it's not clear what I'd be getting for the extra money. The newer model actually has .8 cu.ft less storage space in the fridge section (14.6 versus 13.8) so it seems like I'd be getting less. I have to decide by tomorrow because the only place I can buy it from -- the only store in this area that will replace the fridge if it's damaged during delivery -- has just one older model left in stock and F&P won't accept orders for it anymore. Should I buy the new one or the old one? Does anyone know what is better about the new one?...See MoreCounter Depth Fridge - "tall" storage on shelves?
Comments (3)I also have the Elux - when I left for 2 weeks in a hurry, i forgot to toss the milk stored in the door- I was dreading coming home to yucky milk - it was still fine... I have not measured the temps but the fridge is almost 4 years old and keeps food quite fresh. I can adjust the shelves as well - So I have one shelf that is tall enough for San Pellegrino bottles and then the shelf above is tall enough for gallon milk jugs. I also adjusted the door shelves so that I can put a wine bottle in that location as well....See MoreAnother MW question, does it have to be in the fridge/stove area?
Comments (18)Thanks la-koala, the information you provided is very helpful! We don't have a butler's pantry or a walk-in pantry but it is nice to know that some people put them so far away (although they probably don't have kids, can't see a child using the m/w in a pantry and walking around with the hot food or milk) claire and rhome, I like that location too, except after going through the threads about installing a microwave into an upper cabinet and using/not using a trim kit, it is still not very clear to me. My biggest questions are the following three: 1. do all countertop models have the door hinge on the left side? In our case the landing space is on the left so not sure if the left hinge is ok. 2. If we do go with a countertop model in a 27" cabinet, I wouldn't want to have "air gaps" around it because my house tends to get dusty and we can hardly keep up with the dust in easy reachable locations, let alone such a narrow space. I really like how perqqderqq's or jtsgranite4us's is installed, with wood trim around them almost with no gap. Their photos are in this thread: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg1010264129049.html So I called GE customer service today and asked about installing the GE Spacemaker this way and they told me it is not an approved installation (no room for venting) and would void the warranty. I am guessing it might also void the homeowner's insurance if there is ever an issue which they can blame on the mw. So, is there a trick to making it an "approved" installation without using a bulky trim kit? and lastly, #3, what are the rules which would make the m/w behind a door to be an approved installation? Would it need even more space around it for venting because it would be recessed more into the cabinet?...See MoreWhich provides more storage space? Super Susan or Corner Drawers?
Comments (22)I have 2 lower cabinet corners. I considered the drawer but was told by cabinet company and contractor that they would not maximize space. I didn’t really want a super Susan because I thought they also wasted space, but decided to get one anyway. So I have a super Susan in one corner and just open space in the other, with shelves. I love the super Susan. I was worried that my stuff wouldnt fit there, but I currently have:electric fry pan, blender, hand mixer, marble rolling pin, immersion blender, food saver, pizelle maker, fondue pot, crepe maker. Waffle iron, juicer, mini crock pot, 6 qt multi cooker, and 14 cup food processor, along with bags for vacuum sealer. It’s great! In the other corner are some pots and pans, air fryer, etc. I am happy with what we ended up doing....See Morejally
