Would love some backsplash advice :)

Hello,

I am remodelling my 80's kitchen to a more modern vintage style like in the image shown. This is the first room that we are updating and I want to keep with the style of the home.

I really want to incorporate a subway tile back splash under my soon to be flat white uppers cabinets and the new grey counter, but I can figure out how high I should go and what to do under the window, and where the window meets the wall and wraps around to the glass door where the wall is very narrow and full of electrical switches.

Should I go cabinet height under the upper cabinets and then just a single line of subway tile under the window where the existing 4'in countertops run or should do something more substantial? I should mention we are extending the counter tops out past the phone jack to the edge of the sliding glass door frame.

I would love to go higher up the wall between the uppers and the window and then match it on the other side but not sure if that is a good idea.

I just love getting advice from this forum, you guys are the best!
