Hard pruning Silver Sheen?

last modified: 7 years ago

My four year old Pittosporum Silver Sheen are up to 10 or 12 feet, but wispier at the top than I would like (they are supposed to be screening the neighbor's house). I should have been trimming them back along the way to encourage denser growth, but didn't know that at the time. What would happen now if I cut them down to six feet, would they take off again nicely and give me another chance at trimming to promote dense foliage? Or would they just be forever misshaped and weird?
