I planted a Surinam Cherry and a Cherry of the Rio Grande and 2 different guavas (along with a bunch of other stuff)this past Spring. I have them on a West side of my house and put up shade cloth on the west side of the plants for this first season. They are doing very well. Right now I am preparing sites for mangoes and a dwarf avocado tree. I am fortunate enough to have the new Eastside Tropica Mango Nursery not too far from my house. The man that owns it is a wealth of knowledge and is very helpful. He hasn't steered me wrong yet. Another thing is that he stocks a low chill cherry tree and I am going to try that in another month.

Thanks for the info, decided to go with Plan O Gram Okay, with a name like Plant-O-Gram you have to be suspicious⦠None the less, after searching long and hard for a Mango tree I chose them. As luck would have it, about 30 minutes after placing my order for two Mallika Mangos, my wife instructed me to get two different types for more variety. So I opted for one Mallika and one Neelum. When I called back to change my order they had already packed them for shipping that day (only been about 35 minutes by now⦠theyâÂÂre quick!) None the less, the person who answered the phone was familiar with the Neelum Mango without needing a reference number (they have a butt load of trees, IâÂÂd sure as heck of needed a reference number), and took my info and said heâÂÂd call me back if an exchange could be made. About 5 minutes later he called me back and said they could still change it since it hadnâÂÂt been picked up yet, but the delay might cause it not to go out until the next day. (LetâÂÂs see, a one day delay, caused by me, to avoid having my wife lecture me for the next year⦠a bargain!) None the less, they still repacked it with the new tree and got it out the same day (as noted above⦠they are quick!) The trees arrived 48 hours later. Upon opening my shipping box I found my trees to have arrived large, green, and healthy. They were extremely well packed and Plant O Gram even threw in a small cherry tree (Surinam) as a bonus. As to price⦠well, I live in NC so you sure arenâÂÂt going to find a Mango tree at LoweâÂÂs. The closest designer LoweâÂÂs had was a nice Monrovia seedless Lime tree for the same price, at slightly less than half the size. So even if I could find what I wanted at LoweâÂÂs (Which is a fine store that supports the military I might add ïÂÂ), it appears it would be smaller and the same price, this definitely justifies the shipping cost from Plant O Gram!

I've never seen root rot on a jaboticaba. Mine, which are in ground of course, are in the lowest point in my entire property. There have been some multi-day rain events that have left standing water in this area for a full 10 days without any root issues. During dry season, I'll let the hose run completely flooding the area. That doesn't leave any standing water for more than a day, but I usually have to do it a day or two in a row before flowering commences. Good luck. Harry

These are the Manila mango fruits from June of 2006,and just starting to going through it's first flushes after the winter of 06. These might be the worst photos I took!..but with thousands of images..These are the ones I memorized where and in what file. The others if I run across are of flowering,pea sized fruit and ripe cut open fruit of a 9',then 5 year old potted tree. Potted up by me after a few years in an extra SANDY soil like it came in. I curse the winter of 2007. btw, A second Manila was thriving and growing fast in a pot...did well for a short time in ground,went through a winter fine...then in late spring of 08..died Just shriveled up. Could have been root virus or Gophers.
