Electrolux kitchen 6 month report
Comments (1)Great info! Our reno is a couple of months away and I'm still waffling on appliances. My first choices didn't quite fit, so I thought I would go with the GE Monogram. You are now the 2nd or 3rd person to rave about Electrolux, so they have jumped to the top of the list. I'll be checking out the single wall oven with micro combo. Thanks:-)...See MoreTurkey Burgers
Comments (7)They both sounds good Nancy. I like turkey burgers alot. My other favorite use for ground turkey is chili. A few years ago when my DW was going through cancer a good friend of ours provided me with chili once a week for months. She always made it with turkey and I got really hooked on it. She used a variety of beans and also used corn in it. I don't normally make my chili with turkey because it's a bit expensive at my store but I do always use corn in my chili now. Great addition. The turkey chili has a great texture and a flavor I really enjoy. Her market had ground turkey on sale for a dollar a pound often. Wish mine did....See MoreOrganic Holiday Turkey
Comments (2)For some reason I can't get the video to play. You just have to read all the Thanksgiving threads on Turkey to realize that there isn't one perfect way to cook turkey. We all think our way is the best. LOL! And it doesn't make a difference whether I'm roasting a free range organic turkey or a grocery store fresh or frozen, I presalt and roast on high heat. I have had some free range/organic turkeys that have been wonderful and others that have little to no fat and are extremely dry. Favourite Turkey REcipe Turkey Breast Turkey How Long? Comments (13)I love Butterball brand turkey. I always get frozen and about 15 to 18 pounds. It needs to go from the freezer to the refrigerator to thaw today. I cook at 325* and it takes about 3 1/2 hours. I do the covered roaster pan, because no one in my family likes the skin and I carve the turkey before anyone gets here. If you want the pretty whole brown turkey cook like Annie's. The Chef Alarm needs to be deep in the thigh, not touching the bone. When it goes off, still check for doneness in several places. They say 165* for turkey breast and 180* for the thighs. It needs about 3O minutes to rest after it comes out of the oven. Yes, the thighs will wiggle. ETA: The newest advise is showing 165* for thighs and breasts, But I haven't ever had the thighs done at 165*. I cook the breasts to 165* and the thighs to at least 170*. Do you stuff your bird? If you stuff the cavity with the dressing, it takes a lot longer to cook. Is it COMPLETELY thawed? Once, I had ice inside and that took longer to cook. Check your oven temperature. It could be incorrect. Here is a link to a cooking blog I like. Elise has a lot of good hints to read about timing and the size turkey to buy. https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/moms_roast_turkey/ ETA: Butterball is a prebrined turkey, so you don't want to add any additional salt or brining of any kind. You do want to rub the skin with oil if doing the open roaster method. You can add the the celery and onion also, if you wish. If getting a plain turkey, you need to either wet brine or dry brine after thawing. That is why I like the Butterball, it skips a step....See More- 9 years ago
