Nyjer Feeder?

Hi everyone i currently have a tube feeder with perches and a slot near every perch for the birds to feed. I have quite a few golden finches feeding every day (usually everytime i look i have 2-4 finches on the feeder). The only thing i have been really unhappy about is every time it rains the feeder is a mess and the seed gets wet & moldy. This not only makes me throw away the seed but has the potential to harm the birds.

Also the ports are situated in such a fashion that the finches can't get all the seeds out after the level of the seed drops to a level below the ports.

So i'm looking for a better option.

I'm looking at two different mesh feeder options:

I'm leaning towards the aspect feeder with a rain/weather hood and a tray that holds dropped seeds. I've heard mixed stories that the finches don't like these feeders as much (mesh type feeders). I don't want to spend over $50 on a feeder and then have to toss it if the finches are unhappy with it. I seen one review on the aspect feeder where the person said the finches couldn't get the seed out which i'm guessing is bogus since i haven't seen another review state this.

I've heard sparrows don't like these kind of feeders which would be a bonus. Also, my area area is covered by grey squirrels which haven't touched the tube feeder but i did have to get a squirrel buster plus for the black sunflower seed i use for other types of birds.
