For Red - My Bedroom update
Comments (18)Funkyart, I don't think you are being a baby or unreasonable at all over something that was so exciting to look forward to, yet such a disappointment when the color and the alterations were not what you paid for. Even when something is a 'deal' it's hard to get past it if you feel that you were not well-treated. Look at all the people online who have had a friend or relative give them a super price break on tiling, or flooring, or painting, and then the job is not as promised. A deal is only a deal when it makes you happy at the end. And when you pay full price, it's a bitter blow. Many here think your bed is gorgeous. Well, that is cold comfort when You yourself were looking for something just a little different. I know how this feels. I've had similar experiences, and they leave a bitter taste on the tongue, long after the initial disappointment. So, now you just need to dress the bed. I do think that if you get your entire room looking beautiful and feminine and amazing, you will come to terms more with the one aspect that is not exactly right. Try to think of the bed as a gift--a piece that was given to you by a dear friend.......not just what you would have chosen for yourself, but really pretty and something that will be amazing when you finish with it. And if you think you would love the distressed black/brown finish, then start pricing that now. Believe me, if you had the $$ to get the painting done, sent it out to be re-made, and got it back looking gorgeous.........you would not be still kicking over the paint finish. You would be wondering why you waited. It's just like these guys and wood cabinets. They fight women who want to paint their outdated kitchen cabinets because..... "It's real wood!!! for goodness gosh sakes!! You can't paint wood! Sacrilege!! But I have a News Flash. You CAN paint wood. And if it's Your wood cabinets, and YOU don't like them, and YOU can't make your kitchen look pretty while you stare into the depths of their woodiness, then, you most certainly CAN paint them! Really. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and fix what's broken, even if someone else doesn't get it.... Red...See MoreBeing Brave and Asking for Help Updating Queen Anne DR
Comments (52)Thanks Texanjana I thought you'd appreciate how lovely your DR is going to look with lighter walls and dark cherry furniture. The rug...she has a puppy and went out and closed the doors in the DR, but forgot to lock the swinging door to the kitchen. To her horror, her puppy chewed a little piece of the Persian rug in the corner. She called her rug man, (the gentleman that sold her the rugs) he picked up the rug and took it into NYC to be weaved. They wanted 1250.00 to repair it, but he got it down to 1000.00. It was a perfect repair, you can't tell which corner was repaired. Comments (11)linelle - I looked into that. The website says it uses 5 - 40 watt bulbs, which happens to be exactly what I have in my current fixture. I probably get more light from the open glass shades on the current fixture, but I generally have the lighting dimmed, so it should be okay.......I think. :) No way to really know until it's installed, I guess....See MoreOkay- I Promised A Decorating Update (Really Long + Taxidermy Warning)
Comments (31)@Lars Thanks! Means a lot coming from you. Zelda came with her name. My friends kids named her when they were young. I only have room for one mannequin so she had to have legs to be the most versatile. @Allison0704 I'm guessing the pie cabinet will stay in the dining room because we need the storage. Our largest bathroom measures something like 8'x6'. And my full time office has more space devoted to fashion than work. Small Old Houses. @Sueb20 Heady models for my eBay presence, but she needs a lot of padding when I'm sewing for me! She often wears my Coat of the Day and always wears her rhinestone belt from the thrift store that says PASSION. The boxes were collected over a number of years and some were my grandparents. @nini804 I had to look it up again, but the table is from Kolkka in Redwood City, CA. I can only afford their stuff used and discounted! http://kolkka.com...See Morebac717
