Finished master bath-- tub, blue and white
Comments (17)NaRo - i know it has been a few years but i am redoing my master bath and saw your thread because of the york tub we want to put in. I also want to do a corner shower very similar to what you have. Can you post or send me a picture of it to the ceiling and the measurements, including shower door width? Thank you! The master bath looks great!...See MoreDo I HAVE to have the newer style tub/shower fixtures?
Comments (10)Personally, I wouldn't feel compelled to switch. But, some of the single-lever valve trims look pretty nice, and not like what you see in motels, with those huge dials. I would look around, and not limit consideration to Delta and Moen. If you are still considering keeping the old-style set-up, take a look at what California Faucets sells, and visit a dealer that features their stuff and talk to them. I wouldn't get hung up on "matching" a faucet and light fixture. In fact, too matchy is not always the best look. (A living room with a quirky but compatible collection of furnishings may give a better impression than a package matched living room set.) What you want are things that you like and that look right in the same room, which usually isn't hard. Take a look at some photos on the web, and see the variety of pairings....See MorePlease Help!! Comments (9)First thing I'd do is read the installation instructions to see what is specified there. If they recommend "X" number if vertical inches and you're less than that, or if you used PEX and they specify "no pex" or you used pex that has a smaller inside diameter than the recommended tubing, then essentially you have an installation issue. 1/2" pex does have a smaller inside diameter than 1/2" copper. For delivering water volume to a faucet it's normally not a problem, but when depending on a specified vertical water column, I guess the smaller diameter of the pex could be an issue. I'd call the manufacturer's tech support line and ask them about remediation. No harm no foul, it's best to run ideas past them before you crack open walls. You installed the shower head lower for the kids. Let's say you have yours 25" above the valve and the manufacturer specifies 30". What you could do is have the pipe come vertically out of the valve, and run it up the wall several inches higher than the shower head, say to 40", or even all the way to the top plate of the wall, then add a couple of 90's (to create and inverted "U") and then run it back down to the shower head. That would take care of the vertical issue while allowing you to still have a lowered shower head. If your pex to the tub spout is constricting flow out of the tub spout, that might need to be changed to a larger size of PEX or to copper. Something with a larger inside diameter. You're on your own well so it's likely excessive water pressure isn't an issue. What's on the "back" side of the wall that the valve and plumbing is installed in? Often times it's easier to cut through the back of the wall to access the plumbing, repair the plumbing, then TEST the plumbing, then patch the hole, than it is to access through the shower side of the wall....See MoreShower/tub faucets?
Comments (18)I also have Hansgrohe, which has separate controls for temp and volume:The small lever at the top controls the volume - turn to the left for the faucet and to the right for the shower (#1 means tub; #2 means shower). The large lever below controls temp, and it has an anti-scald feature. There is a button on the left that you have to push in if you want the temp to go above a pre-set temperature. I hated the one lever control I had before because I could not get hot water unless it was at full blast. This way I can get just a trickle (if I want) at any temperature I prefer. Fortunately, my plumbing was accessible through my linen closet, and after the hole was made in the wall, I installed a removable panel so that the plumber will not have to make another hole. I have shelves in front of the panel now, plus the closet door. Glad your problem got solved without having to install new controls, as the Hansgrohe is a bit pricey, not to mention the cost of the plumber. I have Hansgrohe in my bathroom sink also, but I installed that myself, although I had the plumber install my Hansgrohe faucet in the kitchen sink when we got new counter tops....See MoreAmp512 Park
