BLENDERS: Waring or Vita-Mix
Comments (20)The Vitamix is definitely worth it! I've had several other brands through the years and none have even been comparable. A Vitamix doesn't just blend, it pulverizes. It's a blender, juicer, food processor, and grinder in one. We use ours several times a day (we're raw foodists): smoothies, juices, soups, sauces, nut butters and milks, guacamole, frozen desserts...etc. and have never had a single complaint. This thing can literally handle anything you can throw in it. They also come with a free 7 year warranty in case you somehow manage to break it. (But it's built like a tank, so I doubt you could.) You can also do a 30 day risk-free trial, if you want to test one out. They are a bit expensive, but you can at least get free shipping, normally $25(!!!) through affiliate codes like the one here: http://rawblends.com/vitamix-blender Here is a link that might be useful: Free Shipping Coupon Code...See Moresmoothy via Vita Mix
Comments (8)I don't know what the new vita-mix blenders are like, but I have seen they have gone to a plastic jar. Way back I used to covet them when my cheap blender couldn't even chop ice - "If I had a vita-mix, I could blend ROCKS!". I used one that belonged to a friend, it had a glass jar and if you left the stuff in for too long it would actually get hot and cook LOL! I saw a demo of the new ones in Costco, and I was not impressed. It seemed to leave way more chunks than it should have for something that cost so much. Comments (19)@cactusmcharris - I agree, I fell in love the moment I got it! I had to order it from California (General Pumice Products, love them!) @breathnez In my arsenal I have: 3/16" pumice, Gran-I-Grit Grower, Reptibark, sifted through a 1/4 inch screen, Turface Pro League, Lambert perlite (great size, no powder), and sifted river rock from my property, various sizes from gritty sand to small stones, sorted. Depending on the plant is what combination I go with. (For example, Lithops get straight pumice, others get grit, pumice, turface, just depends plus I experiment a lot) Today I was planning on going back to Al's recipe for my new haws since didn't want them to be a science experiment! I originally stopped using bark in my gritty mix since A: its expensive B: It's a pain to sort, and C: I found myself not wanting to use it all up too quickly because of the aforementioned reasons (it's kinda like having fine China but never wanting to eat off of it) I figured the haws deserved it. So this afternoon I "accidentally" mixed together bark, pumice, and turface then realized I meant to use grit (and not the pumice) so I came here to ask about it (and you guys are really awesome, thank you!). @Rina I will post a pic of my mix tomorrow since its dark :) (Nice to "meet" you, I've learned so much from you and your posts!) In the meantime, here's everything new I got! (Dupes will go towards a giveaway) I don't need 10 split rocks - or do I? ha! Mostly for a review/tutorial/DIY blog post and a 6" baby toes (both my Frithia Pulchra and Fenestraria are so tiny in comparison!) OH, and a boat load of new TC pots from dollar tree....See MoreTurning yellow. Is this arbor vitae dying? Can it be saved?
Comments (1)is there a warranty ... speak with seller .... does it look droopy.. comared to the others.. hard to tell in the pix ... of the 3 together.. which is out of plumb .... in one pic it looks like this one.. in another.. one of the others ... perhaps the rootball shifted on this one ... were the severely rootbound at planting from a pot .. how did you plant them ... in planting volume .. it wouldnt be surprising.. to lose one .. by crikey.. tell me why its always the one in the middle .. lol ... i would dig some small holes.. insure its getting proper water .. i would give ti until spring ... and if its even worse.. then its probably a goner .. and i would replace it ... and if i couldnt find exact stock.. i would take one from either end to fill in the middle ... were these bigboxstore .. if so.. and they have fresh fall stock.. i would probably discuss with them ... and if they allow.. return it ... see link.. good overall primer ... see if there is anything you missed ... you were a bit late for such large transplants ... but not late enough for them all to be a fail ... but this one may not have liked it .. and for some reason.. its roots are not getting settled in.. like the rest ... unfortunately.. you wont know.. until you rip it from the earth ... and find out why ... if you are a relative newb to tree planting ... i would suggest you revel in getting 14 out of 15 thru the process .. in vegas.. those odds would have you doing cartwheels ... lol .. bottom line.. its stressed for some reason .. and no.. fert is not an answer ... perhaps it would green it back up.. but the stress is not lack of food ... so it wont solve the initial issue ... ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub...See MoreJasdip
