Basic Powder Room Remodel
I still haven't put in the baseboard and the faucet is temporary. There was some touch up paint that wasn't dry when I took these as well and of course there is still decorating to do. The floor is engineered wood natural maple. The vanity top is cotton white quartz. The wall color is Pittsburgh smoke screen. Room is 5.5 x 6.

Comments (19)Semi- We also paid for the slabs directly...same as kaysd. dedtired- Unless you can think of a way to use the travertine, I think Craig's list is a great idea. I never have bought or sold anything on Craig's list, but so many others use it....another great idea! kaysd- The reason our counters curve around is because that area use to be a bumped-out breakfast nook. The peninsula use to come straight out like they usually do, only it came out right into where the refridgerator is. We couldn't even open our fridge door all the way. So this was a way to enlarge the floor space of the kitchen. Our peninsula is 8 ft. long by 3 ft wide. I didn't think it was going to be very large, but it seems massive to me. Comments (22)Thanks for the nice comments everybody! Goldengirl I did not go with the Laura Ashley Gold but did go with a Behr Custom Color match for Restoration Hardware's Saffron color paint. I love the color with my cherry cabinets, it really warms up the whole room. Here is the paint lid from Home Depot with the color match formula. We used Behr paints throughout, some of their own colors and some color matches. Kathieo - regarding the pendant lights in the kitchen, our original kitchen had a big wood ceiling lightbox with a double flourescent fixture inside. We took that down and decided to install two recessed can lights over the cooktop area of the island but wanted pendants over the seating area. My neighbor who is an electrician did all the lighting changes and additions for me. If you already have recessed cans in the ceiling, I would think an electrician could move those or install pendants to whatever location you wanted if you don't like the current position. Would involve some drywall repairs but it should be possible to put lights anywhere you like. We added additional recessed can lights to some of the darker corners of the room plus linear low voltage undercabinet lighting which is great for adjusting the mood/atmosphere of the room. We also put dimmers on everything which is saving us bulb life and allowing for a range of lighting looks from subtle to dramatic. Here is our original 1989 kitchen. 7 years agoI now have the right faucet and cabinet hardware installed. I think this is proof that the little details can make a huge difference. Sorry that the lighting does not make for the best pictures for coloring at the time that I take these. It really is much brighter than the pictures show.

Your mirror is a nicer version of one in my half bath. I used mine to hide a safe. My "friend" turned out to be a pill and money thief, a brother was addicted to opiates before he died of his addiction, I am disabled and need help around the house, and you never really know who might have problems or when someone in your household may need medication that is attractive to others. My contractor installed the piano hinge on a piece of one by half inch molding and continued the molding around the edges of the mirror so that you do not really notice that it is hiding anything. I will see if I can get a photo.
Please excuse the seashell wallpaper. It came with the house and we have only been here ten years.
The safe fit in an old med cab hole in the wall. It is handy to have a place to put money and credit cards when not needed, too. Plus, any time any workers are in the home, in goes everything attractive to dishonest or desperate people. If I had kids, I would have a safe for all my meds or guns.

7 years agoWe got our new hardware and a couple wall pieces in and after looking at everything, we decided to make a few minor adjustments with hardware location, etc. We decided to go for more of a clean look as it seemed to fit in more with the aesthetics of the other elements. Oh, and I also finally got the baseboard in. Amazing how much of a difference that made. We'll get the curtain replaced at some point.
