how to position rain head & shower light? and the switch?
Comments (9)I am new to this forum, and I am completely amazed by the tenacity of all of you. I read your first thread and cannot believe that you worked like crazy all through Christmas! I think Bill and Mongo are brilliant, and Flyleft is amazingly funny and resilient, and so is Ivette and Monica; and that this forum is a Godsend. That being said, I looked at your "New Plan." Is it possible that you could use the Panasonic Whisper product that is the Light/Vent or Heat/Light/Vent variety? If you use the Whisper Warm that is the Heat/Light/Vent, you might eliminate the need for the QMark heat lamp that you show as a product choice. I am thinking of switching from the Nutone prduct I have roughed in to the Whisper Warm because so many users on this forum have said how quietly and warmly it performs. Then would it be possible for you to place this product just outside your shower so that the light could be cast into the shower while bathing, and the heater provide comfort once you step out? Naturally, the fan could be used in warmer months to remove humidity as you showered. I don't know if your venting system will allow you to place this fixture close enough, however. I think that kob's suggestion of a remote to turn off the light is a good one, I have used such a remote in a tall cabinet, they're great. I'm not sure if it would work on a shower light, however. Also, in Nutone's heat/light/vent combination, all three switches are housed in a box that fits into a single switch; the 3 are just arranged vertically. That was one reason I liked the Nutone because the 3-function switch fit into a single switch plate (box). I do not know the configuration of the Panasonic switch box. The Nutone is a little noisy in the heat mode, though, as I have it in another bath. I am not familiar with the "tow" lights kob referred to in his post. Can any one expound? Good Luck, Lisa. Comments (7)As was mentioned above, when the shower arm is attached to the roughin at the wall the arm extends out 6" then turns downward at about a 40deg angle and drops down 2" to 3". The shower head is then installed on the end of the shower arm and depending upon the design it may extend downwards from 2" to 8". As a plumber, when I was working on a custom home I would ask the height of the tallest person that would normally be using that shower, then place the roughin accordingly so that the finished shower head would be about 6" above the users head. As you can see, if the ppl using your shower are 5'6" to 6' a roughin at 7' would be fine. On the other hand, my nephew is 7'1" tall so we had to set his roughin at 8', and I once worked on a house that was customed sized for a dwarf who was only 4'5" so we set her shower at 6'....See MoreCeiling mount pot rack - hang em high?
Comments (4)I was afraid of that :) So here are a couple pictures of the previous owner's pot rack. Her butcher block is sitting in front of an old chimney stack, which we have ripped out. Our planned peninsula will be in that same spot, and will probably extend just a few inches short of where the butcher block table ends. So basically, at least a foot of the length of the potrack would be hanging in open space (which I see it was doing before, in this picture, and I didn't notice it being weird.) Her pot rack was probably 3 feet long; I would go smaller, around 2 feet, and would put less on it....See Moreflush mount rain shower head - bad idea?
Comments (5)It's not in the ceiling, but the Hansgrohe 27112 is a fantastic showerpipe with rain showerhead. Not only does it provide a great experience, all the plumbing is outside the wall so if there is a problem, it can be fixed without tearing apart the wall. The Hansgrohe 16181181 "basic set" is the only part that's inside the wall and has no moving parts. The shoperpipe's shelf can be used for soap and shampoo. It was installed in a CitizenM hotel which is where I used it....See MoreMongoCT
