Three paver mfgs for patio resurface--any feedback?
Comments (6)That is good to know about your pavers-- lot of our lanai stays in shade from about 11 am on but still prefer the white base... Regarding the pool safety fence--just had conversation with guy who installed fence for friend of our daughter Their fence goes all around their smaller pool cause they have lot of patio space on around the pool--too hard to close part of that off... Our pool is larger than theirs and more rectangular--we can do two sides easier but might cost more cause more panels and the gate was expensive--like $400-- but for our situation I think we will need one-- I am not sure I can physically pull those two sections together to try to get fence back up---there is lot of tension in that kind of fence... But he also said that putting it in after pavers were down was not problem and that the pavers the posts were in wouldn't need to be cemented He could just use a longer aluminum sleeve and drill a little deeper than usual... He also said that black mesh/poles were the way to go that the eye will travel through black mesh much easier to see what is on the other side than white mesh...which kind of surprised me... but it is really pretty easy to see out through a pool cage's screening which is black......See Moreuse of sand in landscaping around pool
Comments (2)I would be concerned about metals (specifically iron) getting into the pool from the sand. This is only a semi-educated concern on my part, based on the fact that when I was a kid I used to drag a magnet through sand to collect the "iron". How about decomposed granite? It's more expensive, but probably not that much more in the grand scheme of things. Expect to pay around $40-45 per cu. yd. for D.G., and a cu. yd. will cover approx. 324 sq. ft. @ 1" thick....See MoreAny tips for laying out pavers around a pool?
Comments (2)We didn't do our own but watched the paver guys while they did ours. They started from the middle of the pool and worked back toward the house and out to the edge of the screened porch. We had three colors and and three sizes that they randomly placed as they worked around the pool. I think that helped hide the areas where they had to make cuts. I don't think you will match up exactly so you want to decide where you want to place partial pavers. We have them around the skimmer cover and on the back side of the pool where they don't show so much. They laid around until they got to those areas and then worked in the partials. We also saw that they would move different sizes in to help balance it out. Since the pavers are moveable, unlike tile, you have the ability to make changes as you go. Here's a photo that shows part of the porch....See MoreMoss growing in between travertine pavers around pool
