Depends on how sunny it is, how fast the underlying material drains and how frequently you need/wish to water. Both Irish and Scotch mosses like rich soil and plenty of water. Thyme likes it hot, lean and on the dry side. I am not very familiar with sun tolerant mosses although I'd suspect they'd be both hard to find and moisture lovers. Weeds will grow up through anything - you just need to be prepared to weed from time to time to keep things tidy. If using only the permeable sand then much easier to use some sort of herbicide to keep weeds in check.

Robinava- it sounds like a great idea. My mom is planning to do something similar with her side path around the house. I don't have any info to offer, but I'm curious to see what recommendations you get from the more experienced people on this forum. Hello twochicklets, I really like your pool and particularly your deck. We were initially considering "gold" travertine, but it seems very "busy". We saw the "ivory" travertine in a store, today, and really liked it. It looks really nice in your pictures, too. A few questions: - Did you seal the pavers or is it wet in the pictures? If it is wet, what does it look like when it is dry? Do you have a picture posted on this forum of the deck when it is dry? - Is your coping the same color as the pavers? - What size are the coping pieces? Thanks.

Use GeoTextile on top of gravel and right under sand. It will hold the pavers in place and keep weeds away. And yes, travertine pavers have great prices where you are located. I live in Virginia but buy from Miami as well... Here is a link that might be useful: travertine pavers
