Speaking of snakes, after the cool night last night, the bright sunny day brought a nice little rat snake out to sun himself in our rock garden. I've seen two of them sunning so far in a month, a good omen. A garter snake last. I made plum jam for the first time ever this year. We have coyotes here but it was the racoons whom I had to fight for the ripe plums. After nightly raids on my plum tree, I had to start picking them a couple days shy of dead ripe, to get any. Never was much of a plum fancier until I ate my first one this year, not from a market. I'm a believer. Wow, I would sure like to taste what a wild one is like. Interesting a coyote would love them. Sort of like the old fable about the fox and the wild grapes....See MoreDo you have a favorite stand-up comedian?
Comments (13)Thank you so much for the suggestions! I looked into each one and they are some amazingly funny people! I am presently considering a couple of guys that I found elsewhere who have made appearances on Letterman, Leno, Jon Stewart, etc. They're funny as heck and routinely do corporate shows so they're "HR-friendly" as well. They're a lot more affordable than Bill Engvall too, who gets between $75,000-$100,000 per gig!...See MoreComedians you don't like
Comments (27)Stand up comedy is a class in itself. Rarely have I seen an act I did not find offensive. They are easier to stomach on TV--when you don't have to sit near other people, other people KNOWING you too are watching this usually lewd, mean, diatribe disguising itself as entertainment. So and so the Cable Guy is humorous. Many of these stand up sorts are easier to watch when they are "acting". Until now their brand of comedy has to be cleaned up for "general audiences" and I usually find them much more funny in this venue. I guess it is difficult to find humor in life without being rude and crude. Check out Tim Hawkins on Youtube. He is always easy and good for a chuckle....See MoreDo you like Kilim rugs? I do. Comments (10)The room ...... just your basic, small suburban spare bedroom. We’re currently renting after selling last house, or I’d remove carpet. The carpet is clean and in new condition; the room was hardly used before we moved in. Shadows in these pics make it look skanky, I know. ~~~~~~ Antique saddle. My dad won the saddle blanket in ‘87 (cutting horse competition). My late husband’s grandfather made this. I cherish it. Some much-loved stuff in there, including antique cowbells (from rodeo/bull riding) and my prized Breyer horse model, Man O’ War, circa ‘70s, Jamaican carved wood vases my husband collected with his late wife, beach rocks from Cape Cod visit when my DD was little, old pottery, etc. Oh! I forgot about the big grapevine balls, forgot to put them up after Christmas. IGNORE THE BALLS — I know it’s very cluttered, but it is what it is! Big downsize from last house. Let’s call it a layered look. :D That old printer the size of a small car will be out of here soon. The Long Island map, that my husband assures me everyone growing up on LI would remember seeing (this was in his house when he was a kid). Seeing them again this year!! Vintage hand tooled purse. Want the throw rug here. An accent piece to break up the dumb carpet. My now husband’s grandmother did this lovely pencil drawing (right of guitar) in 1947 ... Very old family belt buckles (I have more, need to get them out):...See MoreTexas_Gem
