Comments (7)A trundle bed might work... I am getting one for DD's room, but I guess I thought trundle beds were more for younger kids or girls. Not sure why I have that impression. I should have explained better -- when we have company, DS #1 will give up his room (biggest bedroom) for guests, and he will sleep in DS #2's room. The boys are 17 and 14 so it's not like they want to sleep near each other, so I thought something more "across the room" would be better than a trundle. I don't think we would have space for a full size futon, but I didn't know there was such a thing as a futon chair -- I'll have to look for that. We also have a few inflatable beds around the house but I'm thinking I'd like something a little more substantial for this situation....See Moretwin comforter at bottom of king bed?
Comments (14)leahcate - Ours too! lol She (Riley the JRT) hides under our bed and waits until we are settled in the bed. When the lights are off, she then jumps up on the bench, looks around to see if we are asleep, and then jumps up on the bed. She then tries to "snuggle" with DH. He pushes her to my side, and I push her to the end of the bed. She always ends up next to my back. We have a towel we try to put out if we know she will be joining us for the night. msrose - Is that YOUR bedroom? Beautiful! I love the idea of having a throw at the bottom of the bed, but I am afraid DH would strangle me. He is already grumpingly making fun of all the pillows on our bed. But, if I could find something with the gold of my curtains, that may be just what I need to finish the bed side my bedroom (the other side needs major work!)....See MoreNeeding down-sized retirement house plan
Comments (55)Phoggie- I keep running into this plan, when I look up french country kitchens :) Anyway, I thought I'd link it for you...if you don't want a tub, it would be easy to put in a bigger shower with the toilet, and have the current toilet space increase the size of the mechanical room. I would make the laundry area larger, with the sink and more pantry space. This would give you work space on both sides...and easy access to the mechanical room. The garage could have the doors facing the front...and it could be two or three car size. I like the covered back deck, you have the dining room for your bigger table (could add a few feet on the front if necessary) and your nook would be a great breakfast/sunroom space! The kitchen has a really BIG island! The second bedroom could be the office and the guest room would have views out the back. I would put bigger windows looking out the back, from the master bedroom, with the small windows and bed on the 'west' wall. I like this plan...and I don't think you'd need the complicated roof lines. It's basically a rectangle with a garage on the front. A little front porch would be easy to add on, too. If my recommended changes aren't clear (and no one comes along to draw a much prettier house plan) I'll break out the white out and give it a try! LOL Here's the plan, with the link below, having more information. Hope it gives you some good ideas! It's 1800 square feet :) Here is a link that might be useful: Link to houseplan...See MoreTwin or Full size beds for kids sharing room
Comments (17)sonni1 I'm worried about that as well. The bed being too small in a short period of time so I'm looking for beds that are fairly sturdy but reasonably priced as well I've been seeing beds bu this company South Shore and they have all the features I am looking for but I'm not so sure of how sturdy their products are. I don't expect them to be solid wood type quality but does anyone have experience with this company's beds and can speak to their quality? Thank you...See Morecattyles
