FireFox - How to keep a backup of the Scrapbook add-on?
Comments (4)Bookmarks and Scrapbook are different. I can back up Bookmarks easily following the path I gave in my first post. There is a file for Bookmarks inside the next stop after Profiles, which is v20fqq3t.default. I forgot to mention that last one. There is also a folder for Scrapbook inside v20fqq3t.default, but that folder contains a number of files, including "Backup" and several RDF files that appear to be individual backups but are just a meaningless list of figures when I click them, as well as a folder for "Data." "Backup" itself is also full of lines like the following: RDF:Description RDF:about="urn:scrapbook:item20060912103442" NS8:id="20060912103442" NS8:type="" NS8:title="Scappy String Quilt Instructions" NS8:chars="UTF-8" NS8:comment="" NS8:icon="" NS8:source="http://home.pmt.org/~awalter/string.html"/ So I don't see how saving Backup would give me something to use in the event of a crash. Groan. Come to think of it, Roxio appears to insist on individual files rather than folders when I want to burn a disk, so maybe I'll have to export everything to the desktop and then laboriously transfer it to Roxio as a "project" and burn that. What gets me is that previously--maybe a long time ago--there was just one folder that I could transfer to a zip disk and from it open up FF again with all the scrapbook entries. Somewhere along the line that changed. I do find Scrapbook very useful because any Web page saved there is always there, along with its clickable links, even if the original page has been taken down....See MoreFireFox add-ons - which ones do you like?
Comments (12)I use noscript, adblock and adblock filter set G, as well as IE tab (very, very rarely use it but it's handy when needed) and the FireFox Google toolbar. I have browster but sometimes it's annoying and I really have my doubts if it's any faster than loading a page. I never get flash ads, so there is no need for something like Remove it Permanently, although it's possible I have flash turned off. I also have Fasterfox. Is it? I have no idea. There are way, way too many add-ons for FireFox. I just use the bare minimum of extensions to make browsing less annoying....See MoreCan't find my Firefox Add-ons - And losing bookmark favicons
Comments (1)It sounds like your "Add-Ons" dialog box launched on the 'Get Add-Ons' tab. Did you check Extensions or Plug-Ins? That should also be listed on the Sidebar....See MoreEnabling Add-Ons in Firefox?
Comments (12)Same results for me. No changes, same homepage, same add-ons, etc. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps when presented with a dialogue similar to this you chose the "Reset Firefox" option? Truthfully though, and this is just my opinion, if even doing a full Firefox reset didn't resolve the issue, neither would have disabling add-ons. The reset would have been the next troubleshooting step anyway so looking on the bright side, you just saved yourself a step. :) When you say "sluggish system", what are you calling "system"? The entire Window's experience or is it just sluggish when using Firefox? Again, just my unqualified opinion but I would suspect the above troubleshooting step would be useful only/mostly if the problem is confined to Firefox alone. If the entire "system" is sluggish, including IE, Windows Explorer, notepad, etc., I would think scans with your A.V. and probably other anti-spyware tools are in order. Just my opinion though, and as I say, I'm not really qualified. Just saying what I would probably do if it were me. Edit: Grammar. :) This post was edited by chuggerguy on Wed, Oct 2, 13 at 13:45...See MoreCricketm
