Making final decisions... having a hard time - any advice??
Comments (7)R/F: I'm partial to SZ, having had great performance with multiple units (in multiple houses) over many years, & have SZ in our new kitchen. Beverage Center: have you looked at the Monogram one? Great looking & racked well. We ultimately went with Monogram refrigerator drawers because we wanted food storage capability too. Beverage centers don't get cold enough to safely store food. Range: I was impressed with Monogram, never could see a BlueStar in our area. Both the Monogram & the BlueStar have the power you need, so the slow simmer should be your main decider. If both are satisfactory to you, then it's down to your decision between electric or gas oven. (We chose a DCS all gas 36" range, all burners, because of our wiring and we also have an electric wall oven. It can do low simmer without a diffuser. The infrared broiler in our range is more important to us than the lack of self-cleaning, and the oven can switch to convection.) DW: We've had KitchenAid & it's good, much better than the JennAir it replaced. We have Miele now, which cleans better than our KA and is much quieter. Faucet: We have KWC Domo & love it. We have the side control pullout version on our main sink, and the top control pullout version on our prep sink. Microwave: I'd prefer a drawer in an island....See Morebathtub tile making final decisions
Comments (3)Hi Kate, I don't want to come across as the Stone Police, but have you thought about using Porcelain look alikes instead of real limestone? There are a few threads about using limestone vs porcelain in a BR. Again, I love the look of limestone, as I state in the linked thread, I DID have real limestone shelves in my previous BR, but I wouldn't and didn't put them on the floor in my new reno. I used a porcelain tile which I honestly think looks pretty real and is totally bullet-proof. You may want to look at the Supergres Everstone collection from Italy. Going from your choices above, you might like the Ever-Claire collection. What I really liked about it (I chose the Ever-dore) is that there were numerous variations of the tile, ie in 88 tiles, I had very very few repeats. http://www.supergres.com/en/3/products/2-/1-latest_collections/53-everstone-tile-floor-for-interiors Here is a link that might be useful: limestone tile thread...See MoreNeed to make final appliance decision
Comments (4)I concurr with your cooking choices, I have the Elux Icon Oven and Elux Speed oven as well as their Induction cooktop, all trouble free, and the cooktop seems to be one of the quieter ones (compared to clicks, squeals, buzzes fans noices etc) that we have seen posted about some Induction cooktop/induction ranges. (I don't have any teens around but I suspect if it squealed anywhere near the human range of hearing , my cats would let me know). We see few post about Elux DW's and the few we have seen, have not been "all that positive" so you many want to do some more "Investigation" There. Most post "consistently" rate the Miele and KitcheAid Dishwasher most positively--yea you can always find a negative review about either DW, but positive reviews seem to be much more so then Asko or Bosch (Bosch see quite a few post where they state new ones aren't as good as old ones). Good luck with your new Kitchen!!! Gary...See MoreHelp Making Final Soapstone Decision!
Comments (56)Mabsy, we took our sample slab when we went to lay the template. They divided it into 4 sections, and honed one to 80 grit, one to 100 grit, one to 200 and one to 240, so we could see the difference. The higher they polished it, the more I could see the undulations of the quartz areas vs the talc areas. At a lower grit, the whole surface was more even. We decided that the 80 grit finish was best for our soapstone. Hope this helps....See Morepandtkendall
