Hardwood flooring help

Since the beginning of our remodel design, I was intending to go with light wood floors. Unfortunately the light doesn't look good with the carpets and so I have to go medium or dark. I was about to pull the trigger on a birch "grizzly bear" color but then I started to look at the medium colored wood today. Putting them side by side, the Grizzly Bear is THINK ok. I am trying to avoid too dark since dark shows everything but I also like the lighter color because I think it might be a little warmer looking. I'm attaching some pics against the cabinet colors and would appreciate some feedback.

Sorry but this is getting very confusing. What cabinets are being used where? And what is the counter top colour? How many different cabinet colours do you have? How many different colours are going on in this kitchen?

Are you trying to decide between the dark cabs and the light cabs? Or are you going with both? Neither?

Sorry but the amount of stuff in the photos needs some explanation for us. Please tell us what goes where and your COUNTER tops will also help make your decision easier. And how much of this floor is being installed? Just the kitchen? Or all over?

Sorry but I'm thoroughly confused with what it is you are doing with your space.

Sorry about that. It was a "quick" post while kids were eating. Lol

White cabinets are perimeter and dark island.

Flooring from entryway extending down a hallway where kitchen will open up on right and wood will continue to adjacent dining room. Family room on left is carpeted.

Debating between two countertops but very similar . Most likely will go with one on right.

Discuss it with them. Since we cannot see your floor, we cannot say whether or not the "slight imperfections" are those that are common and to be expected with an on-site finish. However, as someone who finishes wood flooring, I can tell you that it is almost nigh impossible to achieve a "flawless" result, especially when staining a floor a dark color. There is always going to be something that isn't perfect. Even factory finished flooring isn't always flaw-free. Any minor imperfection should be just that...minor. It should not be obvious when looking at it from eye level and it should not stand out as a mistake when viewing the entire floor. If you have to get down on your hands and knees to see it or position yourself so you can see it, that would not be reasonable.

We put in LM Glenbury White oak Caribou and we love them. They are random planks with a matte or satin finish. We've had them for 8 months with no problems. We have a dog and grandchildren. They are also in the kitchen. Our installer said they were good quality. LM Floors has some nice choices.

Bona has a 'cleaning' kit that includes a floor stripper (designed to remove their polish and any build up issues from their cleaners). I would ask them about something like that when you are on the phone with them. Or you can google it or purchase the full kit on amazon...or any other place that carries bona.

Hardwoods are definitely more valuable than LVP and I would certainly prioritize extending the hardwoods over ripping out the existing and starting over. It will be more. But probably nothing insane. And I think that extra 2/3k or whatever it is will be well worth it. Now, you’ll need a highly skilled professional to match the existing size, wood type, and finish to get the look your after. Search around until you find someone experienced and highly recommended. (I personally don’t care for the gray finish, but if that’s the look your after you can certainly sand and restain the floors a similar color) I also think a less shiny/ glossy finish will show less scratches.

I'm leaning towards the dark because I think the backsplash and counters will soften the room BUT still concerned it's going to be a pain to maintain

I prefer the lighter floor. It maintains some contrast while maintaining a consistent colour palette with the wood cabinets/island cabs. You will still achieve a floor with a strong colour without the dark floor habit of showing every speck of dirt.
