Have you ever had your Jade do this?
Comments (11)There was a post on here about a month and a half ago with the same exact thing minus the roots. The jade was in a window where it wasn't getting enough light and so became droopy. The owner noticed this and moved the plant so that it was getting more light, and all of the branches turned toward the light. It's phototropism and it's normal. If could have happened if your plant wasn't getting enough light over winter and now is getting sufficient light with summer upon us. If the spot that is growing the roots is the part that is bending and is close to the soil, it doesn't shock me that there are roots there either. We know roots can grow just about anywhere on the jade. That's why we whack them and root them so readily. It may not be getting enough water and so is sending those out in search of water. Take a cutting and set it on a plate. It will send out roots pretty rapidly, especially at this time of year. Put it near soil that is slightly moist or put it in a humid room with no soil, and it will do it faster. At least this has been my experience....See MoreHave you ever had Arrabbiata Sauce?
Comments (13)Loosely translated, penne all' arrabbiata means "angry penne". So they did warn you -- just not in English. :) Seriously, I understand that you're upset it wasn't what you expected or like, but I don't think there was any intention to deceive. Out of curiosity, I checked several seriously hot items in my pantry. Not a warning label in sight. Take cajun spice mixtures, for example. I use them liberally, and you undoubtedly use them in very moderate amounts since you can't tolerate much heat. But we both know this simply because of familiarity -- not because Tony or Emeril 'warned' us. In the same way, arrabbiata is (by definition) a highly-spiced sauce. I think the manufacturer just assumed you would know... I have a wonderful recipe if anyone would like it. It's sooo quick and easy. I think your family would love it, aptosca, if you cut the pepper flakes way, way down...say from 'mad as hell' to 'just slightly miffed'. :) The bonus is it's *real* cheap when you make it yourself....See MoreHave you ever had a tooth pulled? Advice needed.
Comments (54)BTW, when I needed an extraction before an implant, I had the periodontist do it. They do extractions all day, every day, and they are better equipped to notice and react to a possible emergency. When I was in fifth grade, my friend, who had some serious health problems, died in the dentist's chair. One day she was in class and the next day she wasn't. Joan was the first person, besides my grandfather, that I knew who died. And while I realize, gratefully, that I don't have her health situation, I still take this stuff seriously. Attitude toward teeth is also partly cultural. Where I'm from, teeth are preserved (or if necessary, replaced) at all costs, even if the work has to be paid off slowly. Other places I've traveled, no one seems to think anything is odd about missing teeth, even if they are in the front. (Although did you see the Tiger King follow-up? That guy with all the missing teeth had them replaced. The difference was startling!)...See MoreHave you ever had Welsh cakes?
Comments (13)So interesting to hear about that area! I would love to go to Wales and as a matter of fact, to England. I have been to Scotland and Ireland, including the north, so I nearly made it. My great grandfather was a coal miner, so that makes perfect sense. He came to Pennsylvania to work in the mines. What an awful way to make a living. Had to google abseiling. We call it rappelling and I would not do it so I did not inherit the gene for that! Thanks for the insights. I wonder if my ancestors made Welsh cakes. Most of the rest of my family came from Germany in the 1700s, so the cooking was PA German, known as Deutsch or Dutch. The cakes do sound yummy....See MoreMarilyn Sue McClintock
