Coincidentally, just now when I went to update MWB, I got the identical error message. Tried 3 times, but same. Googled the error (quite a few posts with same problem), and ended up on MWB Home Forum. Waited 20 mins for it to try and download the correct page before I gave up in frustration. So I ran a complete MWB scan with my old version (Aug.8th), which came up clean. Opened window with left hand, held laptop in right hand, near window with intention of hurling it to the road below, but decide to give it one more attempt. This time, it updated as smooth as silk, no problems! Tough love, I guess. The laptop has become completely compliant now! Regards, Shax

did they even go in to the event viewer and look at the error messages and codes with event ID? that should have given them some kind of idea. I would suggest fully uninstalling McAfee, use their tool too and remove all traces of it, I was amazed at the number of problems that McAfee had been causing on my pc when I took it off. be sure you use the mcafee removal tool after you have removed them from add remove programs or much will be left behind. I just removed McAfee from one of my computers. I had to go into msconfig and turn off all McAfee items from startup prior to trying to uninstall, just turning them off did not work it would say the program was still running. I then removed everything leaving Security center till last. Then used the removal tool, after that I went to Program Files and deleted all McAfee files. Also set Windows explorer to show all hidden files and folders and deleted the McAfee folders. I found the instructions on how to do this on the McAfee forums. 1. Uninstall all McAfee programs through "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows "Control Panel". 2. Use the MCPR tool, see this article: How to remove supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe). This will remove all McAfee remnants from your computer. (you must have Windows Vista, XP or 2000 SP4 to use this tool) 3. Launch Windows Explorer and delete all McAfee files in "Program Files" but especially in "C:\Document and Settings\\Application Data" and "C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data". You have to set Windows Explorer to show all hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > View tab). Just delete the McAfee folders even if they are empty in all the "Application Data" folders. Can be more than one! To turn it off: Go to Services>Indexing Services>Properties>Startup Type and select "Disable">Apply>OK To rebuild: Go to Control Panel>Indexing Options>Advanced>Troubleshoot and click on "Rebuild". If you decide to rebuild, Berk...it will warn you that this exercise takes a while. They're no underestimating. It does take a while and can take upwards to 2 hours plus so be prepared to do something else while the system is rebuilding the index. Hope this helps.

Just goes to show that the bigger the organization is the worse the customer care. I am very angry that the real problem was not addressed when I was talking with AT&T. I tried to find an email address to voice my opinion and there isn't one to be found at AT&T's website and the maze you have to go through on the phone is ridiculous. If I hadn't thought of Googling the problem by including the search term "Yahoo" I would still be in the dark about it. And not a word has been issued on the news about the problem and there had to be millions affected by it.
