I all ready tried that and it still tells me the same error code.

Have you tried:

Go to > Control Panel>Troubleshoot Computer Problems>System Security>Fix Problems with Update

If memory serves me correctly...it will load a new Windows Module Installer and that should fix your problem. Update Error 80070422 is a rather common problem...often brought on by another update or a challenge to the security of your system. Be sure to run a malware check just to make sure your system is clean.

I tried that too and it still won't work.

Have you made any progress ?

Very strange, every morning it tells me I have update and when I click on it to check, it tells me the same error, but when I shut down at night, the last 3 nights it is uploading updates and tells me not to turn them off and when I check previous updates, well it has them???? Makes no sense to me but seems to be uploading all the updates.

I wonder if the windows event log shows anything ? Have you checked it ? It's a pain to check an sort out the errors in the windows GUI, so if you have time:

It's a harmless little tool, we can delete after we are done. It may show an error that would be helpful in resolving the issue.

OK. We won't worry about those errors. Windows reports an error every time it hip cups. Don't start googling those errors and try an fix them either...

We are only concerned with the 80070422 error, was hoping to get a clue about it.

I'll ask around about it on the Windows up date forum and see what I can find out.

Turn off/disable Indexing and see if that helps. It's not a necessary service and it often causes inexplicable problems...in addition to the fact that it takes up space on your C: drive that can readily be used for other more important things...including necessary updates. If you feel uncomfortable about turning it off...do a "Rebuild"and let it start anew.

I have no idea how to turn it off or how to do a rebuild.

To turn it off:

Go to Services>Indexing Services>Properties>Startup Type and select "Disable">Apply>OK

To rebuild:

Go to Control Panel>Indexing Options>Advanced>Troubleshoot and click on "Rebuild".

If you decide to rebuild, Berk...it will warn you that this exercise takes a while. They're no underestimating. It does take a while and can take upwards to 2 hours plus so be prepared to do something else while the system is rebuilding the index.

I thought the function of Indexing is to speed up searches. What does turning it off accomplish?There are sometimes hiccups with updates, or corrupted sectors on drives. I would pick a date comfortably before this problem started happening and do a Restore at that setting.

I tried to restore it to a month ago and it won't let me go back that far ??? It is still showing I am getting updates but sure won't let me check for them.

The system restore might be a good idea.

Not sure why disabling Microsoft Windows Search indexer has anything to do with the windows update error.

Yes, but when I go to shut off my computer it tells me not to do anything until all the updates have finished, then I look in the morning for what has been updates and they have all download fine, but if i hit to check for updates it still gives me the same error
