Acitonium planted this year: cut seed pods off? How toensure survival

I have tried to grow these numerous times. This new one (planted in June) is in a different bed. It is moisture retaining, part shade with hostas and ferns. Sun after 3-4 pm, til about 6.

It’s bloomed nicely; first blooms are making seed pods now.

Is there anything I can do to help this one make it through the winter? Thanks.
