Comments (6)I know that it is a year past the posting date but summer is coming up and that means that perhaps the agave will set pups again. If it does I would be intersted to get a few from you. I have lots to trade!...See MoreAgave americana mediopicta alba question ...
Comments (5)Here is a list of FULL summer sun adapted agaves for PHOENIX area that GermanStar (a forum participant here)and friends worked up on Xericworld, another forum . A americana started out on it but somewhere dropped off. I see it in full sun here in Austin and it does alright but it is thirstier than other agaves. It is not as xeric as some. I think it should do 5 hours of sun fine just don't let it get too dry. I have not actually grown A. mediopicta so maybe you should listen to someone else. LOL germanstar is your man . He grows a huge # of species of Agave in the Phoenix area.I am sure that he will poke his head i here soon. The thread on the URL is long. Skim it. Lots of info but it is long. Comments (4)They will grow rapidly in open run. A large pot would help establish roots, then plant in the ground, hold up water in the winter, and give them all they want when it warms up. I have seen these get sunburned as well and leaves frozen. So don't let water sit on the leaves. If too cold when you first transplant it may be in trouble. Wait until Spring and don't take a chance. We don't know where you live but by your 7b information I would judge that it is rather cold right now. Well rooted plants do well, however caution should be taken if roots are not developed yet. I had a variegated Americana that got very large, and I was afraid that the offsets were going to come up in my neighbors asphalt driveway. Norma...See MoreWhat to plant around an Agave americana medio-picta alba?
Comments (1)Try some of the pink or burgundy echevarias. If you plant them in masses it would be dramatic around the agave. Another choice would be a large mass of the blue spiked succulent ( I can't remember the name, but they are a real strong bluish gray) Maybe someone else will know of the name?...See MoreKara 9b SF Bay Area CA
