After 2 bad dishwashers, need advice and help!
Comments (51)Thanks for the tip. I called the main number for Miele USA tomorrow and ask about the warranty. In the August 08 brochure, these are the differences it lists between the Diamante G2120SC and the Optima G2430SC, but it doesn't always explain what they are. Temperature settings: 5 Diamante, Vario Optima Economy cycle: Diamante China & Crystal: Optima Sound: Q2 Diamante, Q3 Optima Auto Sensor -Optima G2430SC additions ($1679): Removable Bottle Holder 24hr Delay Start Water Softener Detergent Options -Optima G2470SCSF additions ($1899): Hidden Controls Acoustic Function Monitor Optical Function Monitor When I saw the Optima and Diamante, both looked to have the same cutlery tray. I think only the Excelle and LaPerla had the cutlery tray in two removable sections. For Detergent we use the Cascade 2-in-1 Packs (powder) with Dawn. For that, would the Optima be set for Gel or 2-in-1? The manual says the 2-in-1 setting is if it has a rinse aid built into the packet. The Cascade 2-in-1 does not, so I guess the Gel setting would be the best one to use. As posted yesterday, the dishwasher would have to be connected to my Hot Water line. Because of that, it would be around 120F when it get to the unit. It could heat the water even hotter if needed, but I wonder if it would lower the temperature if needed. It looks like the Diamante has 5 pre-set temperature settings (it doesn't say what the are) and the Optima can adjust it to any. I'd have to think about the extra cost for the Optima, as a few of the features would be nice. It's still sounds a bit odd to me that you have to spend over $1679 for a Miele dishwasher just to get a Delay Start, when my GE from 2 years ago had it for $600, and my current Electrolux does at $1300. We like the look of the intergraded (SCSF), but its $200 more just for that. I'm not sure what the "Acoustic Function Monitor" and " Optical Function Monitor" are. I ask tomorrow when I call them to find out about the warranty. When I was at the Miele showroom last week, I brought some dishes, glasses, silverware, and a baking sheet to see how they would fit. The tallest glass that I had just cleared the cutlery rack when the middle rack was in the highest position. Lowering the middle rack gave the glass more room, but then the middle spray was closer to the dishes. We put some of the silverware in the cutlery tray, and it wasn't as difficult to use as my mom thought it would be....See MoreNeed to replace washer/Dryer quickly - need advice
Comments (24)Well, the saga continues. To make a very long story short the Affinity washer and dryer was too deep for my space. I did get a guarantee that I could return it without penalty if it did not fit. The "expert installation service" we were told about really was an in-house delivery service - nothing more. The guys put the washer in the spot and said "look see - it just fits - isn't that great". We were focused on the dryer which looked pretty hopeless so we didn't even take delivery on it. After the guys left DH took a yardstick and put it from the "pony wall" across the front of the washer where the bubble door was and only then could you tell that the bubble door actually stuck out beyond the wall. It was an optical illusion that it fit because the part of the washer adjacent to the wall fit but the middle part of the washer stuck out beyond that. Anyway, they came and picked it up on Saturday and promised us a full refund. Not sure that the paperwork has been processed - yet but I am hopeful. As you know we are looking for the largest capacity we can get with the smallest depth. Now we have been recommended the following:- and I would love feedback: Washer: Bosch Axxis WAS24460UC 3.4 CU capacity only .1 smaller than the Affinity. Dryer: Axxis WTV76100US - 3.9 CU - This dryer is quite a bit smaller than the Affinity - I am concerned that this dryer can work as well on drying the same capacity coming out of a 3.4 CU washer?? I wash alot of blankets and quilts (queen size) and it is important to me to be able to wash and dry these. I am going to see these models in the store and will bring my puffiest queen size quilt to see how it fits. Would love any feedback.... Back to square one - but I'm hoping this one will do the trick.......See MorePlease help my daughter/SIL with house facade...quickly!
Comments (23)I do like yellow houses, but think it makes this one looks insubstantial. I think also that the brick tones should play some role in determining the color of the house. A true taupe, with no pink undertones, would be nice for this house. In fact, I really like the darker color for the siding. Painting a house a dark color can make it look smaller. That problem can be mitigated by painting all the trim pieces a lighter color----- not white or cream, but a much, much lighter shade of the color of the siding itself. As for the foundation, I think they have done the color scheme backwards.....you don't want three great dark holes. I would paint the arches themselves (stucco or drywall or whatever it is) the same color as the house. I would add trim pieces to the outline of the arches, molding that isn't a super fancy profile, but substantial, and paint the molding the trim color they use up top (the lighter taupe). The lattice I would leave in place and paint a lighter color still....not white, but the lightest taupe compared with the siding (darkest color on the house) and trim (much lighter taupe than siding). The shutters would be the same lightest hue as the lattice. That would unify the very disparate elements and colors going on. If they replace the railing--- and I would--- I'd use simple square railings the trim color (not the lightest, but the middle color in this palette). The door would be something entirely different--- perhaps a green or even a light coral. It's a pretty house with lots of curb appeal!...See MoreHELP! Marble installation gone BAD!! Pics included =/
Comments (9)So sorry that you have this result. What ksc36 says is correct. They MAY have come from 2 different lots, but that isn't necessarily an absolute. Natural stone can come with great variation. We install lots of marble and the very first, and non-negotiable step is to remove ALL the tile from the boxes, separate it by shade, show the homeowner what you have, determine if any should NOT be used (return if possible). This requires that plenty of replacement tile is available (and then you need to repeat the process with the newly purchased). Next, as ksc36 stated, you lay out the entire floor to achieve the blend in shading that you desire, and you show the homeowner, and make any preferred adjustments. You will hear that installation of natural stone is more expensive and you are probably getting the jist of that. Now, as for your question, the answer is no. You can't treat some tiles to achieve a different shade. You can remove the undesirables and replace with new (the sooner after initial install, the better), but it sounds like they aren't available? If we had been given this tile, with no chance of obtaining more, and the customer wanted to find a way to go with it, we would have had an onsite "design discussion" and present some options. For example, IF there were enough of the white shade, it is possible to cut them and create a border at the perimeter so it looks planned (more labor $). It could also be possible to create a feature "rug" with the lighter tile, which again would be best accomplished by fabricating to a different size and/or laying them in a different orientation. The attached photo depicts the "idea". Note that this is also much more labor intensive. And yes, not all suppliers of natural stone are created equal. The lesser expensive suppliers can, not always, present an inferior product with more shade variation. But there is ALWAYS shade variation with natural stone. I might add that your installers appear to have skipped many of the steps described. Likely just pulled it out of the box and installed it. Why they would place the lighter shade in the manner they did is beyond me. Again, so sorry for your experience. I'm sure it is very frustrating....See MoreYayagal
