Native dogwoods and pollination

I have found conflicting information as to whether some of the native dogwoods - cornus alternifolia and c. sericea to be exact - are self-fertile or not. Could someone with knowledge and/or experience with these tell me if I need to have two (like viburnums, totally different) to get fruit?

I know that sericea is a shrub, and that sericea, at least, is not grown for its fruit., but I'm asking for help anyway.
