Which quartzite do you like better with walnut?
Comments (25)I also love the white macaubus, I ordered the same quartzite for my kitchen, due for installation in about 3 weeks. Oddly enough I also had a blue countertop in my previous home, it was corian a Mediterranean blue with big whit specs (prettier then it sounds). Apparently the new owner didn't share my appreciation for a blue countertop and ripped it right out. If you plan on staying there for a long time, get what makes you happy, if resale is a consideration, I'd go with the white, although I'm partial to the white of course! Have you considered perhaps an unattached island only in the blue or a blue backsplash to pull that beautiful color in? If there was one thing I learned from hunting for the perfect piece of granite for nearly 4 months was that a piece of granite can look absolutely beautiful but perhaps not in a (or my) kitchen, hence my decision for not purchasing wild sea green, a beautiful stone that gave me the warm fuzzier until I saw it online in a kitchen, I knew I'd grow tired of it quickly. Plus the macaubus stones I know are at from inexpensive so choose carefully! On a side to, I need help determining if a light colored wood floor will be too weak with white macaubus or if a darker wood would be a better contrast or if it's not even relevant(?). That will be for a separate post! Oh and i think walnut cabinets would be good with whote macaubus. Good luck!...See MoreWhat do you think of this Ann Sacks tile for midcentury shower
Comments (31)Mayflowers-I LOVE the powder room. I really love the color of it also. I will definitely consider this for one of the smaller guest bathrooms. I just wonder if the white tile over the large a space of the bathroom may be too busy with all the grout. I love that vertical tile, but I wonder if horizontal would be better since the bathroom wall is 8 feet wide? It's just such a large wall. Oak town- I would definitely consider the slab terrazzo. I need to see the sample before I make my mind up. Ann Sacks is sending a honed sample. The pictures on their website really look busy too me, but they say the honed will look better. Otherwise, I will use a matte white tile for the floor. Pipdog, thanks that is a beautiful bath! I think if I do a plain tile, I would just go with the heath. I like it because it has some variation in size. Here is what I have so far picked out: waterworks flyte studio faucets, tub and shower fixtures in chrome: Bath tub, matte white, solid surface (the pic is of a light grey one): Walnut cabs, hopefully in this color: White caesarstone countertop (but I'm open to changing to fake marble), waterworks undermount sinks, mirrors suspended from ceiling. Maybe these lights over vanity: This is the tile and flooring we had picked out previously: crease heath tile, white porcelanosa floor, and white caesarstone. The problem is the heath dimensional tile is 3-4 mos. out, or it was last time I spoke with them. Bathroom plan (the red marks floor to ceiling windows):...See Moretile layout - which do you like?
Comments (15)We ended up doing the floor tile horizontally. The toilet, which is the first thing you'd see from the door, is not quite centered between the shower and the wall, and I thought that would be even more obvious with a diagonal tile. I'm also not sure if it really would have made the room look any larger. It is so freaking tiny I don't think any tricks would really work. The wall tile will be done in the offset way subway tile is usually installed, as my husband didn't like the other two ways. The only thing left to decide on is whether to continue the baseboard. We are going to do a mock-up both ways to help us decide, now that the floor tile has been laid. Thanks for your input!...See MoreBathroom floor tile - which one do you like?
Comments (44)@Shanon Rosick - thanks for your post.. if you check my post from 9 hours ago we are going with the deco pattern stratford tile on the shower walls and a matte white mosaic on the entire bathroom floor.. walls are being painted crushed ice which is a hint of grey that picks up the tile color.. the tile doesn't look like vinyl in reality.. it is actually very pretty - no bench / no niche - i do not like either.. getting a small cedar bench in the bathroom that we can pull under the rainhead if we want and tempered curved glass shelves in corner.....See Morerockybird
