My slide-in stove is taller than the granite and other issues...
Comments (114)Put the legs back on your stove. That's not cool to do because you're re-engineering the stove. You have a flammable floor underneath the stove it needs to be adjusted to the right height for air to flow. I have the same problem at my house after doing a remodel. After looking around I found this to be the simplest solution. I went to internet and found a company that sells rubber. I bought a 10 ft long by 1 inch by a half inch thick. I measured the distance from the back of the stove to the front of the stove to get the correct cut. I had to make a few passes to get through the rubber but it worked and I was pleased with the outcome. I'm going to glue a piece of plastic to the front edge that I cut which is exposed to make it appears though it is a finished product....See MoreDo you have beadboard behind your slide in stove?
Comments (12)I have a gas range and need a fireproof surface... and I'm mulling over backsplash options too. Read the installation specs for your stove -- they may vary. The following is from a GE electric slide-in range manual: 30" ranges conform to U.L. requirements for 0" spacing from vertical walls below countertops. Allow 1/4" minimum clearance at the back wall above the countertop. Wall coverings, counters and cabinets around range must withstand heat (up to 194°F) generated by the range. So at least for the particular stove I checked, you'd be OK. Beadboard looks great, and the price is right. Amcofar, how long has your beadboard been in place? Do you have any pics?...See MoreAnyone try these trim kits?
Comments (4)we've got a trim kit around our micro and think it really 'dresses' it up even though it's not the built-in. We were afraid that if an appliance were to go bust first it would be the micro and didn't want the cost of replacing a built in. I don't know if this is the same company that made ours, but that would be my guess (ours is labeled as a kitchenaid). The appliance store said they use this company for their trim kits and they also do custom sizes (I started looking at them directly because our cabinet maker made the wrong size box, but he fixed it so we could use the standard KA trimkit). So, long story to get to my point is that I believe they are reputable, but i don't know how to install since ours was done by the appliance store!...See MoreHow can I tell what type/brand valve I have; want to replace trim only
Comments (8)Is it from about the mid 1980's? I did a ton of research when we remodeled ours a couple of years ago. The thing is that you need an adaptor to get the new one to work (so that the holes line up correctly). These are just my notes that I kept-- Adaptor 145058; changes from 2&7 to 5&7 so moentrol valve will work. I called Moen--they have great customer service. I bought the adaptor on Amazon for about $10 and the new one worked with no problems....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
