Does My WebPage Problem Have A Name?

Desktop. Win7. IE11. Howdy. It all began when Win7 did the 09/14/2016 update. It left a pop window on AOL email that I had to remove it each time. I should have left it be. It was an irritant and I restored my computer back to early this month. That got rid of it. However------------?

Soon thereafter I was on Craigslist viewing a photo of a camper. I wanted to download it for further study. I clicked on save as/ desktop/single line. I got a message "this webpage could not be saved". I went to an older ad of a previously downloaded camper photo. The entire site was filled with blue multiple lines of words, broken words/parts of words, computer symbols, etc. These lines filled the entire computer screen and continue filling screens as I scrolled down. I didn't scroll to the end. There must be hundreds and hundreds of lines.

Folks, to hopefully resolve the matter I've been on the Net trying to insert a subject line of what is happening. I did click on a thing or two in Internet Option Advanced that was suggested and nothing happened one way or the other. I've not come across anything that seems to actually explain my computer problem. Does it have a name? Thanks.

This is one of those times when it is useful to use another browser (Mozilla Firefox, for example) to see if it experiences the same problem. If it DOES NOT, then something with IE has changed. If both browsers have the same problem, then the trouble lies elsewhere. If you already have another browser, try it. If you do not, then choose one...install it...and give it a try. You don't have to use the other browser regularly if you don't want to, but just having it on your computer won't hurt anything.

azinoh- You explain clearly. I wish I'd had you teaching differential calculus way, way back in my college days. I've had a computer for 26 years. I've never used any browser other than IE that I remember. I've always been sort of afraid of change. You make trying a different browser sound sensible and at this point what have I got to loose. I'm old and slow. It may take me a good while to get around to it but you've peeked my interest whether or not I get the current matter resolved. Thanks.

I have one of my email accounts with my ISP. I currently can receive mail but not send it. I am sure the problem is with a setting. I need to get to the ISP website to look up the proper settings. My phone company is a co-op. I don't think they merge with anyone. They have been here to stay since 1953. Locally owned. I did manage to connect using a proxy service. First if you're connected to a modem and router, un-plug them both for a min or so. Replug the modem in. Wait for all lights to come up and then re-plug router in. See if the helps. I'd also run the TFC Below as outlined: Clean out your temporary internet files and temp files. Download TFC by OldTimer From here click Here to your desktop. Double-click TFC.exe to run it. Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator TFC will close all programswhen run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin * Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process. * Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. * Please let TFC run uninterrupted until it is finished. Once TFC is finished it should restart your computer. If it does not, please manually restart the computer yourself to ensure a complete cleaning.

There are many ways to get around right click disabling (those mentioned here, plus viewing source, finding the image link, and putting that in your browser). All right click disabling does is annoy experienced (and even some unexperienced users). If you are truly worried about someone stealing your images, then don't put them in a public place for downloading. While posting uncompressed TIF's of full-resolution drum scans of your images will lead to some theft and loss, is it really dangerous for someone to steal 300x450 JPG? I just put a border around the image with my email and a small copyright. Sure someone could yank it off easily and display it, but not really for anything other than use on their web page. It works pretty well to just ask them nicely not to use the images without permission. Always remember; virtually anyone serious enough to be willing to pay good money for photography is probably not the type of person who would go through the hassle of stealing a low-quality shot off a webpage and adapting it to their purposes. :-)

Why are people having to scroll horizontally on my web page?

Alan, I went to your site and the home page is ok. Even if someone elects not to scroll, only thing they miss is the links to the affiliates. However your reader's respond page you have to scroll to read it. I noticed that your articles are written across the screen, why have the reader's comments be written so wide? I use 1600x1200 on one computer and 1280x1024 on the rest. But I NEVER use the browser in full screen mode. Any site that makes me do that, I doubt I visit again. O.T. Customer No Service - amazon.com ranks right up there in that category. No phone number on the web site. Canned response to emails. Dan

Just so you are clear, trying another browser doesn't mean giving up IE. Another browser is just another program. I've got three browsers on my computer and I mainly use one, but switch to one of the others if some web site is misbehaving. Nothing to be afraid of. Download one or two more and try them. It's free and it won't hurt anything.

You should give up IE. Using IE is like beating a dead horse, it won't do you any good. Try mozilla firefox with adblock plus. You will be amazed.
