Now, it's very hard to give an advice about the color from the pictures-for example, on my screen I see your tile blue as an amazing blue with very very light purple undertone..and I might be so, so wrong:)

The experience that I want to share though-I was looking for a perfect light gray (and for a bunch of other colors). Nothing worked, nothing. Regardless how they looked on a paint chip, paint can, other people's houses. and even them themselves on a paper samples:) The moment I put them vertically-it was another wrong light gray.

So out of desperation, and seeing how all the colors behave differently from what I hope them to, I had this thought-to go and look at the white group of colors.

I didn't want white at all, but I saw that grays(and many other lovely paints I tried)very often don't look right, and also often don't look anything like their name..at least in my place.

So I thought-there is supposedly big possibility for a white not to look white..:)

That's how I found my perfect very very very light gray..:)

Look into the whites.

Maybe look into the blues too.

Forget how the company called the color.

I'm a fan of blue and yellow together. I know you said you didn't want to introduce another color, but with the yellow of the maple of the countertops and floors, I don't think it would seem like you were adding a third color.

Your backsplash is beautiful! What a fantastic color. I agree with vpierce, yellow is worth a try in that kitchen.

I absolutely love those blue backsplash tiles, gorgeous blue color. Maybe a light subtle gray with hints of blue undertones. I like brown and blue and yellow and blue too.

I wonder how Revere Pewter (BM) would look. It is a greige that many people adore. It has a greenish tone...

Yep..I adore Revere Pewter..greige with a greenish undertone..everywhere but my walls..:)

Can you find a color in the wood that you like? Not the main color. You may be able to mute down the color you choose a bit. Pick a tone you would feel comfortable being surrounded by.

My home has a lot of your colors. I try to pull them from my favorite painting, which has a lot of driftwood in it. It works OK with the gold toned butcher block, but you have to coordinate a specific tone to it in order for it to be great.

Right now I have BM cedar key, a greige. It's not perfect with my counter, but I plan to replace my counter. You can get an idea of how it feels - it pretty much fades into the background but still contrasts enough with white.

Think ocean and sand.

the three walls I'd do a white, in semi or high gloss...the fourth wall however, would take a different treatment really well. You could wallpaper altho I'm not a big fan of wallpaper.... but you get a focal point result. I see a semi or high gloss red paint on the fourth wall....then, when you get to artwork, you have a beautiful backdrop. Coral, pomegranate, china red, tangerine- orangeish.....whatever your personal preference...go glossy. That's an easy wall to jazz up and can always be changed.

No doubt, right yellow will be amazing, red will be amazing..wallpaper(interesting idea!) might very well be amazing..but it's a question of what kind of mood is sought after, what feeling..rather than what will work with that blue. This blue is smashing. Gorgeous. And will work with many colors. But will be amazing left alone too, when all the attention focuses on it..

Patterned wallpaper that picks up that blue can be more quiet by the way than the color..it can be somewhere in the middle between the color that blends, and the color that stands out..

I totally agree with looking at the "whites" of various paint manufacturers. Most of them are really not white.

You could color match to the tile, then have it made half or quarter strength.

I could see a yellow -- I am thinking of a more muted yellow, something along the lines yellow split peas (which, come to think of it, I haven't seen in the grocery for a long time) so it doesn't compete with the pop of the tiles.

I wouldn't go with glossy paint for the same reason.

There is a house in my neighborhood that is painted a similar shade of blue, with medium-light green shutters and trim. It looks fabulous. I wouldn't suggest that strong of a green for your wall but greenish undertones in all of your paint choice would probably work very well.
