remodeling, replacing garden bath... heated tub or free standing?
Comments (1)I love a hot bath-- but I am not sure I see the value of Hotsoak. Adding additional hot water from the tap seems simpler, faster and vastly cheaper. I have a jetted tub that I use regularly and it has an inline heater. But, I also use this tub for quiet jet free soaking and find that the water stays hot for longer than in my previous tubs. My contractor spray insulated the tub underside before dropping it in. You may find adding underside insulation to your new tub solves the cooling off too quickly issue....See MorePlans to buy free-standing spa tub - HELP!!!
Comments (7)We just bought our Dynasty Spa - Neptune - Atlantis model with all the bells and whistles!!! and we love it!! We live in Nashville Tn and the spa is manufactured here so we felt very comfortable with our purchase and the history of the company. I think it is the only spa that has a 3 pump system and had the most foot room at the bottom. We shopped around for a while and you really need to get in them and try them out as far as how you sit in them. My husband is 6'5 and this was really the only spa that would accomidate his height and suit me as well. We filled it 2 weeks ago and I have been in it every change I get, the thermostate is set on 93 and its really nice even in this kind of heat. Shop around and I think you will see that this is a very nice spa that is in a leauge of its own. Im not a sales rep, Im just very satified with our choice!! I have the nature2 system to sablize the water. Its a small tube that fits in the filter of your spa and reacts for 3 months. When we get out of the spa I put a cap full of the sani-spa and the chemicals have been good so far. Good Luck...See MoreFree standing versus drop in tub for master bath
Comments (6)Freestanding tubs are inferior in every way. Except looks. They're totally drool-worthy, especially if you enjoy a vintage look. But when it comes to practicality, you're totally right: Expensive to buy (and not just the tub -- the faucet and the extra tile for under the tub), harder to clean, small and lacking in bells and whistles, no edge for your soap dish, and you can't have a shower above. And something that isn't evident at first glance: It's hard to step OUT of a freestanding tub: You're something like 6" above the floor, so when you step out of a freestanding tub, it's like you're stepping over the edge AND down a step at the same time -- not child or elderly-friendly. For what it's worth, we're doing a drop in tub-in-deck....See MorePlumbing Question for Freestanding Bathtub
Comments (1)You are correct! The plumbing should be done first between the subfloor and the ceiling. If the hardy backer hasn't been installed on the subloor yet tell your GC your concerns and request that it be done the way you are thinking it should be. Disclaimer: There could be parts of this question missing and the GC see's something we don't . With that being said it's hard to determine what needs to be done woiytjhouyt actually seeing the project ikn person....See Morejuddgirl2
