I would consider getting a cooktop/rangetop and separate ovens. You can pick exactly the components that fit your needs. If one thing goes out, you don't have to replace it all. If you like to bake I would consider an electric oven. There is a lot written on the difference between the two. I think having convection makes the biggest difference. Some ovens have modes to be very specific in how heat is directed. They are wonderful if they are proven and work. They are additional electronics that in the worst case can be subject to damage from self cleaning or just not work, causing hot spots. A current issue with some ovens is the enamel of blue ovens. I have a Wolf and Electrolux both bake great but I just discovered that both floors of the oven are pitting over the elements. Sheesh! I had problems with the Elux initially and they replaced the oven because the enamel was chipping. It is out of warranty but I do have an extended warranty. The Wolf is parts only so will have to see what they will do. Neither has been exposed to very high heat. I had a Dacor range and oven 5 years ago with blue enamel and it came off too. There have been some things written about blue enamel. Have you considered induction for a cooktop? Agree with above there is so much written. I agree with a lot of what DrB said, but not about the ovens. A "convection microwave" and a "speed oven" are two separate things, though some makers of speed ovens do it kind of badly so it's little better than a convection microwave. Regular ovens nowadays are very problematic things. That's cooking/baking/roasting/broiling cavities--not ranges including burners (but including the ovens in the ranges). Too much of the engineering goes into energy saving, cost saving, and inventory control, and too little goes into performance. The oven is the kitchen appliance with the strongest correlation between amount spent and quality of performance. It's also the one that's most likely to have problems with performance. There are some notable high end fails, but even for the previous Wolf that had troubles with chipping of the interior, causing shards to be blown into the food--which was a critical fail--the performance of the cooking works of the oven, when not chipped, was exemplary. The chipping issue seems to be fixed with the new model, and it's the last thing I'd consider downgrading. Microwaves, OTOH, are another story. Built-in 240V MWs have a performance edge on the countertop 110V units, but if, like most of us, the MW is mostly used for heating a bowl of cereal, a sandwich or a cup of coffee, melting butter, making popcorn, or defrosting soup, a $100 countertop unit will suffice for most people. All microwaves are made by about three makers, most notably Sharp and Panasonic. The special features (sensors, programed buttons, etc.) and looks may differ according the requirements of the company whose badge is on it, but the works are all the same. Microwaves never seem to get complaints. They work as expected and are generally all of the same high quality.

I am referring to my personality, diving in with no planning. Not listening to solid advise. Being offended when opinionated house posters blew it up with critiques.Taking offensive to snooty, condescending summaries about a plan I had chosen. Not seeing past the tone of the message, not looking for someone that would work for me and with me. REFUSING to respect that there is a reason we each excel in different walks of life. Just don't mess with the ones you don't like, same philosophy with all our life choices. You'll hate some, but, there are professionals that truly could have helped me build a better home. I was not receptive at all, just got angry. I'll show them! I Disregarded that the chosen CAD program had flow issues. I didn't even understand the basic drawings. it did, it does.I have zero ability to translate a 5x7 closet into how that closet actually works. The laundry room, same, way too small. pantry, too small. what do those little drawings mean! I have two trained architect friends, and I was certain they weren't understanding I had to move, quickly, with no time for frivolous refinements. Had to break ground by fall, all those laid off Craig's list tradesman would certainly have more time, give my project the thought it needed, and I assumed you wouldn't say you could dry wall or tile if you couldn't. I could not visual the literal size of the storage closet, I now proudly call the master closet, for instance. Being driven by trend threads, that seem good on paper. Was that what I really wanted? Didn't take time to put true thought into those decisions. Did I really want them? Some yes, some no. Driving on to save money, I assume anybody with a lick of vision can hire quality work. So not true, I paid 4 times for new drywall, new painting, and it still is full of ruffles and ridges. Hire the legit drywalling company, wouldn't have lost 2 months with redos, paid excessively, interest hike during the never ending down times, of course interest rates went up.3.99 start build, 5.75 end build rate. Passed on licensed company to do the drywall, He gave me a two week time frame, (way too long in my narrow world)and was 3,000.00 more. So, hire some bozo on Craigslist that promised to get it done in half the time at half the cost.That decision cost me TWO MONTHS! for that investment,I paid up front, they needed supplies, and had me handcuffed, they already had my money. "save 3,00"ultimately costing me literally 4 times that, project set back two months( they showed up about 2 hours every other day and I swear they had no idea how to drywall. Flunked electric 4 times for COO, still have switches/ outlets with no idea their purpose. So, to answer your question, I paid 18,000. for a master bathroom, the tile job and the layout and quality is not good. With proper forethought and workability analysis this would definitely have been avoided. I could have hired someone to explain basic size, what to demand in workmanship, As in earlier post, I am just verbalizing my specific experience and begging you to not to buy that dress at Barneys just because it's 90% off. We were rear ended in 14, can't walk, but, I still want that dress from Bsrneys because it used to be the perfect dress for me. realize needs change, and you if it's an impulsive decision, it will sit in your closet with all the other GREAT deals. I learned from these costly mistakes, and am sooo receptive after the fact, to remedy issues that should have been remedied prior to building!

Just a couple points. Check your favorite cookie sheets to make sure they fit in the ovens, don't assume that just because capacity specs seem large that your things will fit (Bosh didn't fit my extra large cookie sheets that my former Thermador double oven always did). Sometimes rack rails get in the way with some ovens (new Thermador), and the Bosh oven rack has a bit of a lip on the back that kept my sheets from going all the way back.This may not be an issue based on the size of the baking sheets you use...but always do the test. Also, and this is most important, check -warranty differences between your options -make sure you have an authorized repair place available that services the brand you go with -call and see how quickly service can be at your house (took me 3 weeks for an LG refrigerator to get repaired ....and a TON$ to rebuild it after only 3 years owning it....never again will I try LG or Samsung or any other company that takes forever to get parts. Also, I was still in the "covered parts" of the warranty but it still cost me $800 in labor!! I knew when I bought it I would regret it one day but I was a sucker for capacity) -speak with an actual repair tech if either brand has any consistent issues with their ovens, cooktops, etc -ask about the amount of times both ovens are not working in a repair situation -ask the tech which one he would buy Finally, in the few times I had service on my Thermador double oven, it was never the "whole oven" being out of commission. It would be the door of one, or the temperature of the other, etc...never both. In the end, an outdated control panel is why I had to replace it, and in the end I was down to one oven working/hanging...I was never without both. That's not to say it can't happen, but I think that a good double oven is built to take this risk into account. I have a new double-oven being installed on Tuesday and am getting another double-oven, not two separate. Maybe I was lucky, but thought it was worth mentioning because I like my ovens having just one control panel at eye level.
