Low Voltage Landscape lights melting at splices, Help, Need imput

I have 9 flood lights, 50 watts each, running to a 600 Watt transformer on 2 separate runs using 12 gauge wire. The further run (left side of house) has 5 lights, the shorter run (right side of house) has 4 lights.

A Volt Junction hub is being used for connections with standard wire nuts. Everything is sealed so I don't believe moisture is the issue.
Every few months I get a connection that has melted and stopped working (looks like corrosion maybe).

Help me out. I'm only putting 450 watts total on the transformer, 250 watts on one half and 200 on the other. Am I overloading a run or something? What am I missing. I was about to buy the new Volt connection hub with the connections built in but wanted to solve this issue before burning up that Hub. Help me out please!
