Washer/Dryer Problem in Bathroom Remodel
Comments (8)It is to do with code. I have posted & gathered a lot on the plumbing forum. Even been spoken down to by a few people on here. Guess all I wanting was someone on there that has these small efficient systems in their home. I did locate today on the Bosch Instillation manual, that the drain pipe can hook on to a sink or tub just like my current combo. This might be the solution to my problem as it won't be connected to a drain pipe. Trust me, I am going to think this through to make this work. I in no way want to have a problem, but Bosch shows that it can be done this way, so really don't see a problem hooking it to the shower area exposed. I even thought of having a big trash can to collect the water as it is being drained, then poor it down the shower...:). I am very creative in my thinking. I like to think outside the box. I have put in a e-mail to the VP of Sales @ Bosch to see if anyone there can speak to me about this issue. If they are going to market this very small units, then the really need to provide as much information for the consumer. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon. If not, then I will cancel the order....See Morex post , moving washer dryer to upstairs bathroom?
Comments (3)We just moved our washer/dryer to our upstairs bathroom by taking out a closet which made the bathroom larger. One thing you might want to consider is a floor drain in case it ever overflows. It's a great fear of mine. We looked at a plastic washer pan and a number of other options but the floor drain is best for us. We had the flooring gradually sloped in that corner of the bathroom with plywood and mudding - then lino over top. The washer sits over the drain so you don't see it. It is such a gradual slope a person doesn't notice it, but is a 2" drain that should work well if ever needed. We then caulked along the walls, then baseboard, more caulk. I would consider putting in the plumbing for this drain while you have the kitchen ceiling out. Last night is the first night with the bathroom finished and I LOVE the washer/dryer being across from the bedroom. It was the best move ever - especially considering how much larger it made my kitchen. Good luck! Maria...See MoreAdd a washer & ventless dryer to 2nd floor closet?
Comments (15)I am currently remodeling and getting the Bosch 800 washer and ventless dryer based on reviews and recommendations from my very savvy neighbor. I have no idea where the information is coming from regarding six hour cycles but based on the user manual, that is not true of the Bosch and the washer and dryer hold quite a bit - again look at the specifications regarding how many towels can be done in a load. I would think the convenience of doing laundry where it is created and then unloading it where it is returning make it a highly desirable addition - so what If you have to do an extra load or two in the course of a week :-) There is not significant vibration with a Bosch - Bosch is known for exceptionally quiet appliances. The reason I am going with the Bosch is twofold - first the dryer hooks into the washer so installation is simple. Second, they have an amazing water alarm season which is critical for a washer located where a flood would cause a lot of damage. The Bosch 800 has two flood safeguards - the hose is double lined and there is also an integrated water alarm system and pan - if the alarm senses water, the machine stops and no more water goes into the machine and the pan holds any water that has leaked through. If there is anyway of finding space for the 24" stackable units, I would certainly do so....See MoreMaster Bedroom, Bathroom and Closet too small?
Comments (27)When you build with the WOW and 4k square feet, (which sounds like a lot but is not ) . It is NOT when you give starring role /NEARLY five hundred sq ft of it to a great room in front of the entry. Another couple hundred to a "hearth" area ......and what will happen here is nobody will actually gather in the great room, the fire will be the traffic stopper. Then you give each of three bedrooms a "walk in " closet. etc Result? you are left with the master suite that seems ( is) out of scale to the wow in the middle. Also small scale kid/guest bedrooms. The only answer to this plan is to lose a chunk of the "covered porch" square off the kitchen corner, bump the master suite to flush with the kitchen exterior wall.Change the window, to two on the covered porch wall and center the bed between. Plan to lose the tub for a decent shower too. Adjust bath and closet , center the entry to those with a right and left side for each. Anything else requires a total overhaul of the plan. That would mean a second story with two beds and baths on a second floor. ..........a completely different house. But this much under roof on one floor, with allocation to functions as is ? Yup......this is what you get Bump the master suite....or build something else.. ( square off that breakfast nook in any scenario.)...See Moreroarah
