Show/tell about your good floribundas
I'm very fond of good floribundas, and the thread I started showing my New Julia Child has got me thinking about all the good ones, especially after Diane posted her Love Song and HalloBlondie showed a picture of her Hot Cocoa. These are all Carruth roses, and he has some great ones. I would like this thread to be about, not only his, but all good floribundas.
We want to know about all your good ones, even if someone else already posted it. In fact the more repeats there are emphasizes how good that rose is.
I have several good ones:
Our Lady Of Guadalupe, very healthy and vigorous
Sunsprite, very dependable and vigorous, healthy
Orchid Romance, vigorous, better every season
Poseidon, second season, healthy, very promising
Julia Child, better every year
Belinda's Dream, such a good rose for me, healthy and dependable
Love Song, beautiful blooms, even in the heat
Easy Does It (New this year, looks very promising)

7 years agoOK, I don't grow many Floribunda's but The one's I do grow are great in my garden.
Hot Cocoa is a work horse for me. Big, vigorous bush with beautiful foliage that blooms non stop all season.

Still going strong in mid August.
Hannah Gordon. Big beautiful bush with blooms that will stop you in your tracks. I know this rose can be grown up in the cold area's. I know someone who grew it in Syracuse, N.Y. with NO winter protection.
The bright, beautiful blooms of Chrisma says it all. I've been growing it since the late 1980's.
Eutin is a very good, dependable rose. Always there when I want a big bouquet.
It produces big, beautiful sprays all season.

Comments (25)Well Molineux, if you haven't figured it by now, Diane is a flower goddess disguised as a regular poster with that magic touch most of us regular mortals do not have. Every pic that Diane has posted looks even better than any botanical garden pictures I've ever seen. (grin). I agree BB is beautiful but since I do not spray, I will not grow it. I will probably grow Poseidon or Novalis if I can find it this year. Fragrance is not my top priority as I grow other fragrant varieties. BS and flower forms is a must for me. Lesmc, your pic is quite misleading. Your Blueberry Hill is so gorgeous that all the pics I have seen in Rose Search website pales in comparison. If I ever grow this rose, it would be because of you. When I look at the pics in rose search, I wasn't convinced because most of them looks too pink or too blowsy. Comments (11)There was a thread on this topic some months ago--see below. There are some good photos of niches. Our project is bogged down, but I have a few additional comments since I posted... Because we have to watch our pennies, I'm shopping in bargain places. One problem I have encountered is that oddball lots of tiles often don't include bullnose pieces as well as regular field tile sizes. The niche that we have roughed in will require some cute tricks to make ordinary tile edges seem attractive and classy; we don't want to just snip tiles and leave raw edges. DH, my sweaty equity, did not finish the niche smoothly when he created it in drywall because we knew we would cover it in tile. Now, we're thinking that we might not do the tiling right away and he'll have to pull out drywall tools and make a proper corner edging around the niche. This kind of "go back and do over" gig is getting very frustrating. [Meanwhile, I've found a smashingly exciting tile that of course only comes without trim pieces. It's sitting right next to me, thinking. Unfortunately it has a decidedly unfinished raw edge and will require tricky handling if we choose to use it. I just covered it over so I can't see it tempting me there on the table. Have to be more practical. ] Tile shops do carry a metal edging that can be used to finish off edges when no bullnose is available, but I haven't seen examples of it in actual use on a range niche. Would love to see a sample photo to reassure me. Also, remember that if you choose to work with a thick tile or a remnant of some kind of rock from countertop on the back of the niche, that will cut down the depth of the niche shelf. If you want the area above range/cooktop to be an artistic focal point, I humbly suggest that you either make a niche OR some kind of tile design but not both. If you choose too fancy a niche back, the items standing within the niche will compete with the tile design for viewer's attention. Mine will be a working kitchen, so we're planning to put oil bottles, vinegar bottles, salt shaker, etc. there and they are supposed to get top billing. Comments (19)Hi june, I am on about 4 acres and there are woods on most sides of the property and only one neighbor on one side that I can see and its fenced there lol. So escapee passiflora and other vines aren't a problem. In fact, there are "wild /rogue" trumpet vines, japanese honeysuckle, and carolina jessamine growing all crazy out in the woods and up various trees on the back of the property. I have a lot of gulf frits so they do keep the escaped (from pots) passies under control here too. For additional control, I grow most of my passiflora in pots and use 3 tall bamboo poles tied together at the top in the large pots. Then I use fishing line and black electrical tape to create a little trellis for them to attach their tendrils onto between the bamboo poles. Then I position the pots up against a fence or tree and let them climb that way once they grow over the bamboo poles. When it freezes, I cut them back to the length of the bamboo pole/trellis and move the pots into the gh because some of the passies I grow will freeze back badly and some are tropical so gh culture during the winter is best for those. ~SJN...See MoreShow or tell about your recent pleasant surprises
Comments (25)My most recent good surprise is Pinata. I agonized over and researched getting a rose for a shady spot. Pinata was the only one that said "preferred" shade in the reviews. I saw the blooms at High Country Roses but was not smitten. Too small and not that gorgeous. In the end I got it anyways. The bloom I have is a greenhouse bloom since it was set in the green house but my oh my, it is gorgeous and long lasting. Here is was Sat. Aug. 31. The size was much bigger than I anticipated. More of a smaller large bloom than even a larger medium bloom. Here it is Sun. 9/1/19 Wed. 9/3/19 Yesterday Friday 9/6/19 Then today, a full week after blooming it is losing one petal. Sat. 9/7/19. I love it when a rose ages gracefully. To me the bloom is still gorgeous at the end. And lasting a full week is appealing to me also. I hope it behaves the same when it gets established. We put this rose in without much enthusiasm and much backward and sideways looking for something that I liked better and it turns out I like it quite a bit. 7 years agoI love floribundas! Their bushes are much more attractive than hybrid teas, and they don't grow too tall. Here are some of mine.
Julia Child, when she was new in June. Now she has completely filled the pot. Everybody who comes to the house comments on her. Whatta rose!
Morning Sunshine. This was sold as a floribunda, but I think it's actually a mini. Either way, it's a bloom machine.
Sexy Rexy. I have five of them at this point. The clusters are to die for.
Trumpeter. A total winner. You have to like the color, but it's in an ideal place for me, transitioning from red to orange. Also, the blooms last for days inside.
Easy Living. Not as prolific as it seems to be for everybody else (although I have gotten rid of most of the weeds you see here), but when it does flower, it's fascinating. Not a long-lasting flower, however.
My garden will never be neat as a pin, but the roses don't seem to mind...

7 years agoAs I posted in the other thread, liking julia child so far! She is a blooming machine & healthy foliage. Hot cocoa is new, but it was Ken's previous posts about it in a thread that made me try it. To give you an idea of hot cocoa's vigor & disease resistance. I bought it on clearance about 4 weeks ago. It was in a 2 gallon pot. Planted in the garden that day under extreme heat conditions. Gave it lots of water. It is in the shade until 1 pm. So at this time of year I have black spot, particularly where the roses are in morning shade with lots of dew on the ground. Hot cocoa is clean & shiny. It has almost double in size & is starting to put out blooms.
I have also been impressed with mardi gras. It has been very floriferous for me. Pretty clean foliage too!
Another one which is categorized as a grandiflora that has been impressive in bloom production & health has been Delany Sisters.
Anyone following the rosy days of summer thread has seen many of it's blooms in the past months. That shows how good the repeat is.

7 years agoGuy de Maupassant is a stellar floribunda for me. It hits all the right notes: good shape, apple fragrance, disease resistance and a good bloomer. It really cheers me up.

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoI'm wondering how well Sheila's Perfume does for others, I love this rose, but didn't include it with my other floribundas, because mine does seem rather lackluster in its vigor, but those blooms are a surprise every time!

7 years agoExcellent floribundas for me would be Occhi di Fata. LOVE this rose! So wish we could get more Barni roses in the US.
Every day the flower is different. It is like fairies come in the middle of the night and paint the petals for the next day. Flower starts out white and then gets a pink edge and from there goes to pink. Wonder if that is why is called Eye of Fate or Eye of Fairy in Italian. Great rose.
Another great rose would be Blue for You. It takes a lickin' and keeps on ticken' (if you are under the age of 50, you will not have an idea where that saying comes from). This rose is pretty much always in bloom. It takes my 114 degree heat without flinching. Great rose.
This rose's sister, Eye for You is also another great rose. Again, takes a lickin' and keeps on ticken'.

A great Burling climbing floribunda would be Flamingo Dancer.
Then I also love the Ralph Moore rose, Wedding Cake. It lasts forever on the bush and changes colors when it wants to do so. Sometimes it is straight pink. Other times it is pink and green. Other times it is just green. It is always interesting. I have it on its own root and it took several years to come into its own. As always, with a Ralph Moore rose, it can take heat, cold, etc. It is a little work horse in my hot, hot, hot garden.

This is my first year having roses, and my Easy Does It has been my best rose. It just keeps blooming since I planted it late spring. It's very forgiving while I'm learning what the heck I'm doing haha!
Might have to get a couple more next year

I don't have many, but here is an excellent floribunda nearly always in bloom and very BS resistant.
Easter Basket. It's only drawback is that it doesn't always sport that lovely pink blush.
These next two floribundas were shown above, but they are the only other floribundas I have to show off.
Eutin--have 3 of this one. Reliable, dependable, good BS resistance, slow on re-bloom but when it blooms, it's a prettier rose red than any Knock Out every dreamed of producing! (It was kind of the KO of the 1960s.)
Love Song--I adore this one!
Sara, I'm glad Our Lady of Guadalupe is doing so well for you. I really miss mine.
