Plant Delights Has Giant Upright Again! Limited!
Comments (10)I got an e-mail from PD today stating they were out of the Thai Giant, but would have more stock in a few weeks. I don't know if that means I got one or not. I did get an e-mail confirming my order, with an order #, etc., but still don't know for sure. Probably not....sigh....., but wonder if that means they will send the 'Ruffles'. Their minimum order is $35 which means that half of that order is $21 (I think the Thai was $22, and the Ruffles was $20). Bihai - I don't have anything that is big enough to be "tradable" yet, but eventually would love to trade! I haven't even thought of checking around on the forum first because I don't have anything yet, except the common stuff. Susan...See MoreFYI - It's 'Pie Day' on The Martha Stewart Show
Comments (10)I do not watch Martha Stewart but it was on this morning and I took the day off (not feeling well) and the pie contest sounded interesting so I left it on. Marjorie Johnson from Robbinsdale, MN won. She's quite a character. You might remember her from The Tonight Show when Jay Leno was on. She was a frequent guest and became a roving reporter for a while. She'd bake cookies and go interview a sports team or something like that. She has the metabolism of a hummingbird but has won over 2500 fair ribbons including over 1000 blue ribbons and many sweepstakes ribbons. She's a very modest person too, a real Minnesota sweetheart, and I was glad to see she won, but thought she would the way Martha was talking anyway. She'll be on tomorrow's show to show how to make the pie. Not sure if I'll be able to watch it but I might have to try. She's a 4'8" dynamo. I tried to look for the recipe but I'm sure she's not allowed to give it out until the program airs so we'll see if MS puts it up or Marjorie puts it on her site....See MoreFYI: Chainsaw Chain Pitch is Different if Low Profile.
Comments (4)Over the years I learned to make my own chain’s lengths form chain stock and used or new chains (due to expense and dirty wood causing premature wear). I learned to match chains with my sprockets or change my sprocket. There are kits with some common sprockets at the address below. I purchased Laser Tip Bars that had no sprockets that cost more but paid for themselves due to no sprocket (they Last and Last). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Bars with sprockets will last if they are cleaned, greased and oiled “Regular”. Cutting green wood makes a big difference if you have a choice in cutting volumes of Firewood. Noticing that you have good chips from a sharp chain helps “ALL”! Attached is a good and bad fit of a chain to an open sprocket. On a closed sprocket as in the link attached below, the chain should show a common fit and rest on the diameter of contact. Plus, the electric saw is no longer self sharpening with the stone that has been removed as that style chain. http://www.oregonproducts.com/pro/products/sprockets/sprockets_powermate_system.htm...See MoreIt has arrived..New Zealand Lemonade
Comments (83)Laura, you enabler you! ! :D The Giant Key Lime was one citrus I have seriously considered ordering. I have two Mexican Key Limes, a Kaffir, and a Bearss Lime currently, after I receive my next order from Harris, hopefully later this week, I still want to place an order later this fall with Four Winds for Santa Teresa Lemon and Bergamot Sour Orange etc.. My collection is increasing and I want to make sure I get the ones I have been coveting and that I have room for all of them come winter. After that, if they make it through the winter alright, and my hubby and I finish building another upcycled GH, I will possibly add a few more... Hobby, thank you for the concern about the soil settling and the roots showing. :) I actually filled the pots up just a bit under the rim so I would still have room to water without overflow. The pot on the right had more roots showing than I would like, so I did cover them up a bit more this morning after I watered. I don't mind having a few roots showing though. From what I researched and read, the Bearss Lemon cultivator was selected in a Grove in FL. The parent tree was planted in 1892, supposedly. Description: Is a fast growing tree, very productive, very fragrant blooms and bears an abundance of very juicy acidic fruit July through December. Tree is vigorous, thorny, and sensitive to cold. Bearss out produces both Eureka and Lisbon. The flavor is outstanding. Has up to six seeds per fruit. A true lemon. This lemon is grown in Brazil, much appreciated for its fragrance, . Most of the crop is eaten fresh, some is used for rind oil. I read a lot of positive reviews on the Bearss and heard the fruit has outstanding flavor and slightly larger than Eureka. Win Win for me!! Hobby, the Baboon Lemon would be a good one to add to your list also.. the leaves smell divine!! :)...See MoreChris0333 WI zone 5a
