Can compost be used on a fiddle leaf plant?
Comments (3)@Dave, I'm in Singapore so the climate is mostly hot and sunny all year round, is it still a bad idea to repot at this time? We did loosen some of the roots below and also removed some soil around the root ball before placing it in a bigger pot, not sure if that counts as potting up or a repot but it was a bigger pot! Thanks SO much for the links, will save this for bed time reading tonight before we buy our soil tomorrow! @theparsley- Thanks for your explanation on the other post as well, you are quite right! It was confusing trying to understand what exactly compost was in the first place not being familiar with the terms! I'm not sure the product we got has any sort of soil in it, it's quite fluffy and light weight, and has quite a high percentage of peat which we read is water retaining? The product I purchased was: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scotts-Miracle-Gro-Purpose-Enriched-Compost/dp/B001VEJD1Q. We did mix in a bit of potting soil and garden soil along with the compost (maybe 60% compost and 40% potting soil), but the whole mixture has remained quite wet over the past 2 days so we should probably remove the compost and use soil to be on the safe side? New question, now that I have an 50L bag of excess compost, what sort of plants can I use them on :)...See MorePruning a too tall fiddle leaf fig
Comments (1)WOW ! your tree looks great... I too have a too tall fiddle fig leaf.. and i'm curious about how you trimmed it all the way down two years ago. I think I want to do that with mine. All have the leaves have fallen off except for the top foot of the tree.. so the rest of the 6 feet look barren. I've trimmed the top before with success, and have created little baby figs from my clippings -- I followed these instructions-- http://joeandcheryl.com/my-new-baby-fiddle-leaf-fig-tree/ But now I want to start over because my tree is grazing the ceiling. I plan on cutting off the tops of the braches and making more fig plants from them. My question is.. did you just trim yours all the way down to the dirt basically? How much of the stem did you leave?Thank you!...See MoreWhats going on with my calathea and my fiddle leaf fig tree??
