I think things are just quirky at random. If you were "censored" I think your membership would be terminated. If someone flagged one of your posts, they may be looking at it to determine if it is inappropriate before they make it public again.The National Anthem thread may have moved into "hot topics" territory and they may be assessing whether to let it continue, depending on what's being posted.

There are no moderators. The staff at houzz alerts to controversial posts only when the posts are reported. Sometimes the software is quirky, and your response just doesn't get posted. Try again.

Just a glitch. I think Tamara moderates through info. she receives from the members and flagged comments and then makes a decision to act or not. IMO, she is the most professional and sound moderator on the Web. She gives her readers a very wide berth, requires strong evidence of something before taking action, etc. This is a very "breathable" Web forum as a result. I strongly suspect your comment came upon a glitch of some kind.

Lisa, the Anthem thread is still showing on my end but I started so maybe that's the reason? The last post was eight hours ago.

I hope it doesn't get moved to HT. It's more like competing for a National Enquirer heading over there. Considering how important the national Anthem is to some, not at all to others and a few in between the post has been (excluding a few tiny hiccups) amazingly civil.

I don't believe anyone has said the National Anthem is not important to them. I believe the counter argument is that Americans have a right to silent protest, and in fact the National Anthem is a symbol of that.

Btw, I can still see the National Anthem thread.

I can see the NA thread, too. There was just a delay in the posting of my messages there that did not occur in other threads. I eventually just deleted them as a peaceful protest to apparent censorship of the thread.

Thinking it is not Houzz, but one's own browser/software that might be the culprit? Longer threads w/ many replies can take longer to load & I have a hunch that when someone else is posting to or editing their post on a thread, it may not display properly for others.

Also seems that some people's comments take longer to post, depending on their server, maybe? And when I use my browser 'back' button to return to the main page, things sometimes don't show up - esp. when there is simultaneous activity.

Maybe try refreshing the page &/or checking again after a few minutes? Usually works for me - as does using the search box.

This is "Home Decorating Conversations" not "Home Decorating". I was looking there. Funny, I can't find this section in the list of topics. I find "Hot Topics" and "Home Decorating" listed, but not "Home Decorating CONVERSATIONS"???????? It only shows up for me when I am in "All Discussions".

There used to be a Conversations side of several forums before Houzz took over. They were all combined into their respective main topic forums in the take-over, but the members here asked them to bring back the Conversations side here.

Carolb, those are all possibilities, but in my experimentation yesterday, I ruled them out by using different browsers, viewing as an outsider (not logged in) and while logged in, refreshing my browsers, clearing histories... and I never use the back button of any browser. I only go to the top of the thread and click on the link again to bring it anew. I "surf" the Internet quite a bit for my work and know my way around the various browsers how they influence the workings of Web sites. The differences in my posts yesterday were not related to a technicality, I do believe.

D_gw, and I didn't even reference the 4-hour potential side-effect that raises all sorts of eyebrows in my household! (wink)

Lisa, I also found the NA thread missing for a while yesterday. It might have been a board glitch that only a few people experienced. Occasionally it happens with other threads, but it often seems to happen with more contentious ones. When it reappeared, I assumed it was temporarily pulled to evaluate after someone complained.

Thread was missing for hours when I looked and when it was back there were posts missing that are now back. No idea...

I can see mine too as long as I'm logged in, but otherwise it's missing from view. I use two different browsers. Always logged in on one; never on the other.

You know what? I just realized when I couldn't see the thread I wasn't logged in. When it did finally show up and bits were missing, I still wasn't logged in.

Did they delete the posts with religious Biblical quotes?
