opinions need for dryer sheets for he washer and dryers
Comments (2)It is my opinion that fabric softeners and sheets are unnecessary - PERIOD! If your clothing are "STIFF" coming out of your dryer, then you have a bigger problem, such as soap/detergent build-up. If you use these products to control static, there are ways to control it without toxic chemicals and perfumes from softener sheets and liquids. -If you experience static cling, then you are over-drying your clothes (especially if you have a mixed load of natural fabrics and synthetics). -Don't dry synthetic fabrics in the dryer. If you do dry synthetic fabrics, pull them out of the dryer before the load is completely dry. -You can spritz a dry load with a fine mist of water, tumble the load on "air" dry - no heat - a few times, and that will break the charge so you can remove the items without getting a shock. A fine mist of water is also a way to stop static cling if you are wearing garments that tend to get static. If you add these products so you have some mystical scent, such as "Spring Fresh", derived from chemicals, then add scent. -Grainlady...See MoreCould use a hand picking out a washing machine/dryer combo....
Comments (4)The 4000 series are not stackable because Miele didn't design them to be stackable. In order for laundry sets to stack, they need to be specifically designed so that the dryer interlocks with the washer below. In the case of Miele models that are stackable pairs, this requires removing the top of the washer and the installation of a stacking kit, allowing the two appliances to be securely fastened together. I'm guessing Miele didn't design the 4000 series to be stacked because the stack would be too tall for most people to see or reach the dryer controls at the top. Stacking unmatched appliances not designed to interlock in a stack would potentially be dangerous, because short of welding the two units together, there'd be the danger that the dryer could fall or slip off from the top of the washer. Washers and dryers shake and vibrate while in operation, increasing the risk. There is, however a way to accomplish a variation on a stack. It would involve building a very strong shelf above the washer on which the dryer would rest. The shelf would have to be substantial and be tied into the framing of the walls or supported with strong timber or steel posts. You would also need some method of securing the appliance so that it couldn't slip off, if vibration caused movement. Going this route, the dryer would be above the washer, but technically, they wouldn't be stacked....See MoreAre steam washers and dryers a good pick?
Comments (10)Some people swear by the "Steam" feature and others say it's not a deal breaker that they can take it or leave it. Usually the "Steam" feature is a feature of the higher end machines. It adds yet another feature and a boost in price. You also get with the top of the line machines, larger drums and faster spin speeds. In the washer, some machines use a heating element and nozzle that shoots steam into the tub, others use the heating coil in the bottom of the machine to boil water which makes steam in the tub. In the dryer, some use a heating element and nozzle to shoot steam into the drum and some just spray a fine mist of water and that with the heat of the dryer makes steam. The "Steam" cycle can be like 2 hours long or longer in the washer. I think the more important cycle is the "Sanitary" cycle. Which pretty much all but the basic washers have. The "Sanitary" cycle (depending on options) can start at warm and heat up to "Sanitary" temps. This also can take hours to complete. If you're looking for the largest capacity washers and dryers, you may get the "Steam" feature as an added feature but don't let it be the deciding factor. More importantly look for a "Sanitary" cycle over a "Steam" feature. Maybe some people with the "Steam" feature can chime in. Comments (6)I purchased our third laundry set yesterday. There is a lot that went into our decision but I will focus on a few. Our first set was a Maytag set, the second set was a Kenmore H4T set (We Absolutely loved this set for its performance but it was not too efficient - took too long to wash) and yesterday we purchased LG's latest model. These are the points that helped us make our decision: FLoader or TLoader? FLoader. Why? They are more efficient and washes cleaner to us. They use less water, soap and power. We have a septic system so we care about how much water goes into it. Service? The Whirlpools have fewer service calls but lower customer and review ratings than LG or Kenmore. They also compare to the #1 washer which is LG's mid steam capable washer. Kenmore is 3rd. I chose the LG as the service calls were a little (and I really mean just a tiny bit) more than Whirlpool's. Price? The Whirlpool set is the cheapest. They also have a deal on the bases; Buy 2 and get $200 back. The LG bases are the cheapest. Kenmore is most expensive. The latest set from LG is the most expensive BUT the WHITE is $200 less which makes it $100 more than the others in the pack. Other reasons we purchased the most expensive LG... The LG has a unique leveling system that quiets the machine when it spins at its record speed of >1300 RPM. The drum is 4.5 Cu which for us means less loads of dark and light colored clothes. The the Whirlpool 4.2 Cu. Steam while washing seems to produce whiter clothes in washers I have seen. The rollers make the clothes also seem to spin more in the wash cycle. I checked it out at a friends house. She has the mid model which is #1 right now. The LG wahshers works. Are you ready for our reason #1? The LG washers wash in 40% less time than the Whirlpool or the Kenmores PLUS uses less energy and water while running. BTW = this comparisson only compares Steam Infused Washing Systems. I hope this helps. I hope it washes as clean as the H4T set we had. That washer "Sanitized" our clothes and produced the best results I saw in a non-steam washer for white clothes BUT it took 1 hour and 10 minutes. It also vibrated the entire second floor of our tiny home....See Moreartemis_ma
