opinions need for dryer sheets for he washer and dryers

What are your opinions on the usage of dryer sheets for He washers and dryers as you now I have the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer WTW6800WW1 and the Dryer WED6600VW0 presently,contacted Whirlpool customer service and they said no one has reported any problems safe to use uncertain what to do please help.Thanks,Nina

It is my opinion that fabric softeners and sheets are unnecessary - PERIOD! If your clothing are "STIFF" coming out of your dryer, then you have a bigger problem, such as soap/detergent build-up.

If you use these products to control static, there are ways to control it without toxic chemicals and perfumes from softener sheets and liquids.

-If you experience static cling, then you are over-drying your clothes (especially if you have a mixed load of natural fabrics and synthetics).

-Don't dry synthetic fabrics in the dryer. If you do dry synthetic fabrics, pull them out of the dryer before the load is completely dry.

-You can spritz a dry load with a fine mist of water, tumble the load on "air" dry - no heat - a few times, and that will break the charge so you can remove the items without getting a shock. A fine mist of water is also a way to stop static cling if you are wearing garments that tend to get static.

If you add these products so you have some mystical scent, such as "Spring Fresh", derived from chemicals, then add scent.

If you really want to use them, go ahead and use them. Personally I quit using them years ago and don't regret it in the least. You will probably need to clean the sensors and thoroughly wash the filter frequently if you use them but it's not a big deal. I just don't like the smell of them and see no need for them. I got static in the winter using them too so they reduce rather than totally eliminate static. As Grainlady said, don't overdry. You'll save more money on drying costs and have less static.

I used to use a washcloth and I'd spray it with a diluted unscented liquid fabric softener and preferred that to the sheets but just decided I didn't need that garbage anymore.

Maybe you want to compromise and use them with synthetics only. Or maybe just give it a try without. But you don't need to fear using them if you really want to use them. Some people want their clothes to smell coming out of the dryer. I usually use smell as an indicator that they need to be washed!

I have a whirlpool front loader (Duet, I believe) and it is direct driven...no belts. It is sitting on a pedestal, sitting on laminate flooring on the 1st floor of my house in the laundry room just off the kitchen. The secret of its quietness is the direct drive part and Whirlpool machines are now made in the U.S.A. Before this, I had a Whirlpool front loader that was belt driven and made in Mexico. It sounded like a jet plane taking off when it was spinning and it was on the same pedestal.. My DSS has an LG front load washer, sitting on a wood floor and his is direct driven and not noisy at all either.

If you decide on an LG washer, don't bother with the fancy features like steam, etc. but do get one with an internal heater (if it has a Sanitary cycle then it has an internal heater). We got a simple LG washer with a heater on a black Friday special at Best Buy for $500 (we did opt for a matching dryer exactly because of the stacking need, that was also $500). So the whole set was $1000. I'm very pleased with Best Buy's installation service, and very happy with the new washer. Sears service is not what it used to be. Most of their sales people don't know anything about the products they sell.

Most dryers can be reversed, but not washing machines. The new Asko large size machine might be the only current model in production with a reversible door. All this is somewhat academic now. The left hinged HE5t is now installed. Our current dryer is a non-reversible right hinged Maytag, and it's a really bad combination. Once we get a new dryer it should be OK.

Sspye, we received our set yesterday and have run the first load (after the initial empty wash recommended by the manufacturer), and I find it awfully noisy when it's getting the water and even just the overall noise during the wash. I used to have a Siemens UltraSense Plus until we moved, and that was so quiet you just didn't know it was running except during the spin cycle. As for the dryer, I can't get excited about a dryer. I've only ever needed the normal option, so I guess I don't take advantage of any special features.
