Maples Leather in NC sells Legacy Leather, which I think runs about equal to better in quality than BY. Eight way hand tied, down wrapped cushions, lifetime warranty-- etc. They're made in Canada. I have been shopping, but haven't bought yet. Stores that carry BY and H&M usually carry Legacy if you ask. The website has been touchy lately, since they just redesigned it, but at the Maples site, I think her legacy is listed as Traditional and High Country. At Comfortsource.com, they call it Luxury Leather. Why do they have to be so confusing???? Anyway, Maples High Country Indiana sofa looks similar to the one you liked and it was listed at $1599 there. They retail for around $2500 and up unless you catch a sale. Manufacturers want you to work through their dealer network. They do not want to establish a working relationship with a customer as that usually ties up their office staff for hours on end. It would be like calling GM in Detroit and asking for a brochure for a Silverado pickup. Go to your local dealer where they can get things for you promptly and answer your questions. Manufacturers are also keenly aware of internet price shopping and want to keep their local dealers solvent. Therefore they don't do things like list all the dealers on their national website, don't send fabric or leather swatches, and sometimes will not send out photos or catalogs. Everyone has a job to do, and the local dealer's job is to work with the retail customer. Another thing too, is email can be overwhelming (if you even make it through their spam filters). Most manufacturers right now under NOT doing well, and are asking their employees to do more and more in a workday - not hiring a lot of office staff. Answering email from retail customers is right at the bottom of the list of things that need to be done in a given day. -Duane

Do you need the dropleaf table and chairs, or is it just there because you like it? How many people do you need to seat in the space on a regular basis? Having done it several times, I would never again buy a couch and loveseat combo. I think buying either a couch or a loveseat, and then a pair of occasional chairs or recliners, is the way to go for versatility and interest. Is the fireplace going to be real, or a faux (electric or gel fuel) fireplace? If it is faux, i would seriously consider putting the fireplace /tv combo on the shorter inside wall opposite the window, and preserving the larger end wall for a couch and tables/lamps. I would then put two chairs in front of the window with another table/lamp. The dropleaf and chairs could then span the space across the room by the entry Assuming you want to keep the chairs and table, and the fireplace and tv are on the end wall, I would put the couch (no loveseat) across the room with its back to the entry. I creates a nice defined entryway for you. Put a sofa table behind it. I would then put a pair of chairs in front of the window, with a table between them, and put the dining table and chairs against the inside wall.

You have a lot of straight, contemporary lines so I would keep going with that, but I'd use a couch with a few distinctly different details so you don't get that "tried to match but missed" look. For instance, continue the squared arm, but look for a lower arm that isn't full-depth like the loveseat - for instance, Pottery Barn's Seabury (actually I like the dark wood frame and flared legs on that one, which would tie back over to the bookcases) - or a box-style arm/back like Crate & Barrel's Presley which also has that nifty wood frame. Mitchell Gold's Fred couch would be a really awesome transition between the Eames chair and the existing loveseat, with the square shape and tufted back, if you could find some way to keep the Eames chair in the room. Make sure the scale of the two pieces is the same, paying special attention to the seat height - it looks kind of weird to have one seat significantly higher or lower than the other. I think a low-to-the-ground (very short legs, not low seat) style would work better than a skirt if you want a less "leggy" look. Ikea's Karlstad doesn't look bad though, and would be an option if your budget is so tight it squeaks. ;-) The long cover seems to only come in white but you might find a great fabric cheap on Fabricguru.com or eBay and have a replacement cover sewn up using the white one as a pattern. You're not confined to a print unless you want one, but if you do want to go that way I'd look for something in a Deco or Mid-Century Modern style, either very subtle or strongly graphical; but I think a compatible solid in a heavy brushed canvas or twill would be just fine, especially with pillows that bridge the colors. Leather is also an option to consider, if it's in the budget. (If you were keeping the black Eames chair in the room, this black/beige print would be too cool.) BTW, if I may make an unsolicited comment, the pillows on the loveseat are a little traditional in style for the rest of the room, which skews contemporary. A more modern pattern like C&B's Spotlight or Kramer (outrageously expensive, but places like Target are knocking off things from spendier stores like C&B and Pottery Barn) would suit better, IMO. If you sew or can have pillows sewn, this contemporary tapestry fabric would work wonderfully with your colors. But, you didn't ask that so feel free to tell me to stuff it if you're in love with your pillows. :-) (Pun not intended.) Your other option is to call the manufacturer of your loveseat to find out if they still make that model and fabric, and go matching. There really is nothing wrong with that.
