Nope, the only beverage I drink pretty much all the time is Water, filtered and cold. My husband is a big coffee lover and drinks a couple of huge mugs of it in the morning.

2 - 4 cups a day of good ol' Folger's Gourmet Supreme, dark roast. It is also excellent as an iced drink treat. Comparing prices with Dunkin', Melitta, etc. gives me a headache. I'm to frugal to spend the big bucks when Folger's is so good and reasonably priced.

We make 8 cups in our 12 cup Mr. Coffee-esque machine every morning. 2 mugs each, and that's it for the day. Hazelnut, please. We have a French press on the boat, and it's OK but somehow doesn't taste the same to me.

I don't like Starbucks or most other coffee shops. McDonalds is pure awful. I'd rather do without. Plus, I'm cheap. Can't see paying big $$ for what I can make at home.

I LOVE coffee, but it gives me headaches so I never drink it. It does taste amazing though, I drink decaf tea as an alternative.

I drink one or two mugs a day and if not coffee a pot of Red Rose Canadian Blend breakfast tea. I have a Tassimo machine but only buy the coffee pods when they go on sale. I just grind the beans and use one of those Melita drip filter holders that I put over my mug and pour boiling water over the coffee. I have a coffee machine for when I have company over haha I have many coffee makers because my sister used to buy me one every other Christmas. Sometimes I make my coffee in a French Press. I am not one for drinking flavoured coffees or lattes but I do buy Zavida hazelnut vanilla coffee beans if I want a coffee after supper and I cut that with regular coffee. I drink my coffee black if I make it at home and if I get one from a coffee shop I get one scant cream. Coffee works opposite on me, it doesn't wake me up or give me a boost it actually makes me want to sleep

I used to drink coffee all day, every day. I love the stuff! But due to some health issues, I have cut way back, now I just have one mug in the mornings, (well, sometimes I'll have a second one). And sometimes I'll have an iced coffee in the late afternoon. Love the dark roasts, and I want it brewed strong! Morning coffee has powdered creamer, not flavored, no sugar. I don't like liquid creamers because they cool the coffee down too much, I want it HOT! Iced afternoon coffee is made with leftover morning coffee. I like to use flavored liquid creamer in it, and I like to try different flavors. It's sort of an afternoon dessert for me. Don't think I've ever been in a Starbucks, and there is no Dunkin Donuts here, but I buy both brands of ground coffee. And I do love a good cappuccino occasionally.

I take my pills with water but immediatly drink a gulp of coffee to wash them down. Plus the heat of the coffee activates the pills faster.

Typically, I drink one cup a day at breakfast. I keep a supply of non-caffeine soda, but may imbibe occasionally in one more caffeine drink if I have lunch with a friend.

We enjoy very strong coffee. We used to share a pot every morning, but now I probably use the large regular/traditional pot only rarely. We've discovered cold brew. Over time, my method has evolved. On Saturday or Sunday I coarsely grind three cups of French roast beans and let them steep in the fridge until the following weekend, then strain and add water to make about 60 ounces. Once the milk is added (fresh each weekday) that's enough for DH and I to have a good size cup each workday. I nurse mine all day because I just can't explain to you how wonderful it is and I want to savor it all day. On weekends, we use the French press and enjoy a couple of cups each of good strong hot coffee.

Donna, years and years ago my Aunt Joan in St Louis always made cold brewed coffee in large amounts in a huge glass container almost like a Mexican coffee pot. It was really good coffee.

I was recently diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus, so I need to stay away from coffee. When I worked, I drank coffee all day. The last several years, I drink two cups each morning, with one packet of Stevia and a good helping of French Vanilla cream. I hate to switch to decaf, but guess I will have to now.

I'd like to mention that a (Dutch) friend of ours drank copious amounts of strong, hot coffee. At 75, he survived radical surgery for esophageal cancer. Now he is limited to eating small portions of soft foods and must sleep with his head elevated.

It may take a while, but drinking too much coffee -- and too hot *anything* -- can be detrimental.

You might want to test your coffee maker for water temperature. According to various coffee institutes, water should be between 195F and 201F. It should not be 212F (boiling). I was amazed to find that our old Krups tested at 160F. No wonder the Capresso makes better coffee...the water's hotter!

At home we brew coffee using fresh beans (Douwe Egberts Aroma Rood) along with the OXO Barista Brain coffee maker. Perfect every time.

Fast food coffee spots are Tim Hortons (dark roast) and McDonald's.

Starbucks in town is slow, old and lukewarm.

I drink 3-4 cups a day and usually only the first 2-3 sips are hot. After that chores and life get in the way and it gets cooler and cooler.

And really, too much of pretty much anything *can* be detrimental.

I've never had a cup of coffee in my long life but it is one of my favorite smells. I used to love putting on the percolator every morning for my dear husband.

Nearly every morning I will make a latte using my cheap home espresso machine.

In warn weather, rather than heating the milk, I will simply add the espresso to cold milk and drink that.

I have a mug and a half every morning. Hubs generally has it waiting for me. I like a cup after dinner in the deep of winter also. But this thread made me crave a coffee so I'm drinking one now and imagine I'll be up and busy for a few more hours tonight lol. Powdered creamer with a splash of light whipping cream no sugar.

I make a pot of Starbucks Breakfast Blend every morning and drink two big mugs with Sugar free Hazelnut creamer. Yummm..I love my coffee. That's usually the only time of day I have it. Just two weeks ago I tried the Starbucks Cold brewed you get in the grocery store...that was great too...Had it over ice!

Rhizo, I've never been sure but looking back, I think maybe I was given a sip out of, probably, my dad's cup and since they used evaporated milk that might have done it. The smell however evokes nothing but happy memories in my mind. Strange.

My husband drinks iced coffee almost every day. I don't drink coffee - I like the smell but not the taste. If I could add sugar and milk, that would be fine, but I have to avoid sugar, so I don't bother. I drink water. No soda, no fruit juice. Once maybe in two months, when we are out, I will have a dark beer.

If we have it brewed I may have a cup of that instead in the mornings or on a weekend afternoon. I use plain half and half in mine; I can't drink it black. Occasionally I'll buy a bottle of flavored creamer for myself as a treat or add sugar. Very occasionally we'll have breakfast out and I'll get an iced or hot flavored latte depending on the temp outside.

You don't need any special equipment rhizo. Here's how I do it.

Yes, no special equipment is required, but, you're not getting all that liquid gold out of the grounds by not pouring everything, even the dregs, into a good filtering setup. Coffee is costly enough that when I use 3 cups of grounds to make a half gallon of coffee, I want ALL the flavor I can get from those beans. I line my strainer with a large square of fine mesh fabric (think wedding veil), add a large fluted paper coffee filter (can be purchased at a restaurant supply/Smart n Final) and let it drain for several hours. Then I twist that fabric up and over the grounds and wring out every last drop I can. And I only add 2/3 the amount of half & half/milk, not an equal amount. Remember, I like it STRONG.

Sometimes at night I can't wait to go to bed so I can get up and have coffee in the morning. :-D

OMG...last night I cold brewed overnight on the counter my coffee, after about 16 hours I used a bounty paper towel and a quart canning jar and filtered it twice..the bounty worked great...I put it in the frig a few hours. Than I poured a glass about 1/2 full of the coffee with same amount of whole milk and a few Tablespoons sweetened condensed milk...stirred and poured over ice...this is the BEST iced coffee that ever touched my tongue. .OMG its delicious. So good I think I could sell it and finially be a rich woman LOL. I thank all of you for turning me into a iced coffee hog...HAHA

We drink Costco French Roast. Me, usually one cup in the morning with whole milk. DH likes it black and drinks 2-3 cups a day. Sometimes I will heat up a Starbucks bottled frappuccino in a mug late morning if it is a cold or foggy. I have either iced or hot tea or chai in the afternoon depending on the weather. Occasionally when it is really hot, I will have an iced coffee mid afternoon. It seems more refreshing. I can't drink any caffeine beyond 3PM or I will not be able to fall asleep till past midnight.

No, never have. I do love the aroma (my parents were big coffee drinkers), but I tasted it and did not care for it.

rhizo, we use the Hario Cold Process Brewer. We got ours at Williams Sonoma for $25. It makes very smooth iced coffee. For us, well worth the $25 investment just for convenience and being able to have really good iced coffee at home.
