New house, new lawn, new strategy?
Comments (2)The link below will provide you with detailed information from the Univ. of Tennessee extension service and includes 3 options for removing bermudagrass from a tall fescue lawn. Actually, the option you may want to look at most closely is the use of Acclaim Extra, which can be purchased at a John Deere Landscapes/Lesco store. The folks there should also be able to provide additional helpful information for you. https://utextension.tennessee.edu/publications/Documents/W237.pdf...See MoreNew house, new home #2

Comments (4)Hi justalurker Thank you for your reply. You donâÂÂt seem to mince words âÂÂwhat a crockâ however it worked on me and I wanted someone to let me know what they thought, so thanks again. I was trying to figure out any alternatives I may have and it was beginning to look like I really didnâÂÂt have any and your to the point rebuttal convinced me. So now I just have to pick a RO system and a softener system. The âÂÂiSpring 75GPD 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System with Brushed Nickel Faucet, Model RCC7â That I mentioned last time proved to be made in china and sold by a U.S. company but I found one almost the same that is made in USA with âÂÂmostlyâ Made in USA parts. DonâÂÂt know what âÂÂmostlyâ means but I take it that they try to use USA parts when they can. It is a âÂÂAPEC Water - USA Top Rated 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filter System (ROES-50)â I looked at the Watts zero waste and it was also made in China and it just pumps the waste water back into your hot water system, I think I can pump waste water into an outside container and use it for certain plants. I would appreciate any warnings or praise that you may give the APEC RO before I commit. I will be installing it in garage so no saddle valve CanâÂÂt get to the neighbors yet to beg for water. Hoping to get out there soon. 3/4 inch pipes. Still thinking about this one http://goo.gl/vkoxuT IâÂÂm thinking that it can be programmed for what I need after I get moved in. Possible or just more of a crock (;-)] The important question Red of course for me but I know my new neighbors mostly prefer green, maybe I can develop a taste for green in a few years Thanks again justalurker Here is a link that might be useful: softener system...See MoreNew house and new house rules
Comments (16)"We are a no-shoes house. It's so ingrained, it's automatic and simple. It's not a big deal, and it's not hard." ^^ This. It really does become automatic -- outside shoes are taken off in the mudroom and "house shoes" slid on (we're partial to Birkenstock). The house shoes don't go outside the door, not even to get something from the garage or take the dog out for a potty break. And wipe the dog's paws. It's about the germs only in part, but even more so about debris that shoes track in, which will scratch and dull a hardwood floor. I'm not talking about contractors here. I wouldn't dream of asking a contractor to remove their work shoes/boots, it's their protective wear -- both them and myself, I don't want the liability should anything unfortunate happen. I do go around and vacuum then mop up after they leave, which I also do when company comes over, some of who wear slippers (provided by them or they bring their own), and some who don't. Again, it's not all about the germs but also just the general dirt and debris that gets tracked in and then all over the house. You want to know what's REALLY GROSS?!? Women who put their purses on public floors, especially bathroom floors. I am aghast every time I see someone do that. I mean -- you do know you're carrying all the funk of John Q Public into your house and spreading it all over the countertops, furniture, bed, wherever, right? Oh my..... {shakes head}...See MoreWalnutCreek Zone 7b/8a
