Repair Dead/Dry Spots in Marathon I (fescue)

I've posted here before about my 1-st year tall fescue lawn which we've been struggling with here in Southern California (San Bernardino) area. This Summer's heatwave just about fried it and thanks to this forum (and not my landscaper) I am now well aware it's not the best suited grass for my area.

That being said, we've been watering once a day at 4am in the morning since it was scorched, and have managed to bring it back to life about 85% of the way. My landscaper also recommends fertilizing - but it's just been too hot. Going to wait until it cools down in the Fall, if it ever does to repair, fertilize and/or reduce the watering as necessary.

I still would like to know what to do for these dead dry patches in the lawn, which don't seem to be coming back to life. My best guess would be to till those spots, fertilize and overseed with fescue? Hopefully the grass experts here can point me in the right direction.
