Comments (4)How interesting, Jeanie! Yes, once I compared the leaves I knew that couldn't be it. The leaves remind me of passionvine, passiflora caerula, but that is not it either. OHHH, check this out: Scurfy Pea, Psoralidium tenuiflorum Bushy plants with widely spaced, alternate, stalked leaves. Each leaf is divided into 3-5 narrow, rounded leaflets. Comments (2)Yes I have the old hard cover book from 1942 or so. The story was in the Saturday Evening Post in a series of three magazines in the early 1940's. I also have those magazines and also in a veterans' magazine more recently. I was born in Australia where my father met my mother. I came here with my mother at 9 mo old and lived in Kansas with his relatives until my father got back to the states. Ralph Newquist is his name.
